Crytek Guy Calls It "Awesome". I Bet You Disagree... |
Listed in: News Tags: crysis 3, Crytek, pre-owned block

There have been a lot of rumors recently about next gen consoles having the ability to block pre-owned games. Of course, the folks who stand to make more money off the idea are usually for it and the fans who feel they won't be able to play as many should the idea be implemented are against it.
Now another developer has joined the side of the blockers. Rasmus Hojengaard is a lead developer at Crytek and he said, "From a business perspective that would be absolutely awesome."
He then went on to say that he's surprised such a practice exists. "It's weird that [secondhand sales] are still allowed, because it doesn't work like that in any other software industries, so it would be great if they could somehow fix that issue as well."
So "from a business perspective" I guess it makes some sense. I guess.
But no doubt most people reading this will think the idea is less than "absolutely awesome."

Should Rent-A-Center also pay a FEE to every single manufacture of which they sell their used items?
Explain to us how Blizzard (for example) payed for the Gamestop retail outlet, their water, their gas, their electricity, rent, employees...everything to be in business in order to sell that used item. Blizzard is entitled to nothing.
If a developer wants to make money off used games then they should offer a trade in program. You know...DO WORK to make money.
When you sell a product you no longer have any financial rights to that physical item. Period.
