The first Witcher game was never made available on consoles. It was supposedly good, but buggy as hell. If you're like me, you like to play the predecessors to sequels before playing the sequel itself (I'm still chugging through Oblivion before I get to Skyrim). Unfortunately, you may also have a PC that can barely run a calculator so playing the first Witcher game is right out.

Fortunately, CD Projekt RED has put out a video that pretty much hits all the high points in The Witcher 1, in motion comic form. There are a lot of names to remember (or most likely, forget), but it sounds like an interesting tale and gives you an idea of what's coming in The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings.

CD Projekt RED Story Writer Marcin Blacha says you don't have to play the first game and that this video will suffice for you to get into the second one.

"The story of The Witcher 2 begins just after the events of the first part," he says. "But you don't have to know the previous events, because the sequel has a completely new story and sends the protagonist, Geralt, east of Wyzima (the place in the video that ends up sounding somewhat like "emphysema" in pronunciation). If The Witcher 2 is your first encounter with Geralt, you will smoothly enter the story. Those who know the first game will feel the continuity between both parts."

The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings will be out April 17th. Get spoiled below.
