Capcom Says Resident Evil is too Big for the Survival Horror Genre |
Listed in: News Tags: Capcom, operation raccoon city, resident evil

The Resident Evil games have gotten more and more action-oriented through the years, and it was especially evident in parts 4 and 5. Masachika Kawata, Resident Evil's producer, says this was necessary for the series to survive.
"Especially for the North American market, I think the series needs to head in that direction," he said. "[The primary Resident Evil games] need to be an extension of the changes made in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5." He also said they need to follow that progression and "take it a step further."
"Looking at the marketing data [for survival horror games]...the market is small, compared to the number of units Call of Duty and all those action games sell. A survival horror Resident Evil doesn't seem like it'd be able to sell those kinds of numbers." He elaborated by saying that he doesn't believe that Resident Evil 6 has to be "a straight up shooter," but that it seems like they aren't going back to the "every-bullet-counts" model per se.
But then he follows all this up by saying that Capcom is trying to keep the Resident Evil core concept alive in their numbered games, but that they can meet their more action-oriented quota by branching out with games like Operation Raccoon City.

The day that CoD: 4 was brought into this world, the end of all gaming genre was already set in stone.
Every game will become like CoD in some way, shape or form, just to try and reach the popularity and success of Call of Duty.
All that will remain of the gaming industry is clone after clone of the same game with a different title...
At least, that's what I think will happen.

Your fans built you.
Your amazing puzzles.
Your scary atmosphere
Creepy mutant looking fucks
Zombies. Zombies are always a plus
Sweet weapons
Great character development.
Story
Epidemic
CoD,
has none of that. The reason why CoD gets more and more sales is because of stupid consumers, sheeps, dumbfucks.
Same reason why people buy the next album of Lil Wayne, Lil B or any of those bullshit rappers.
Putting videos games in a coma, and you're to blame consumers.

The puzzles for me were a pain in the ass but fun once solved, and even when i got completely stumped on some there was always faq's for those who looked instead of rage quitting.
the atmosphere was definitely one of the major reasons as to why i loved the game plus the whole every bullet counts aspect really made you consider using your ammunition wisely but boss battles were a bitch.
after playing raccoon city for a couple of hours i can safely say that i absolutely hate it and i'll probably have someone else finish it for me since i want to know what happens.
I do hope capcom will take into consideration all feedback from players and hopefully (fingers crossed) RE6 won't be too similar to raccoon city

Resident Evil was successful because it was different and stood out, not because it was just like Final Fantasy VII and Crash Bandicoot. Resident Evil's producer is going to kamikaze the entire franchise!
