Splash Damage has detailed the first game update for their stylish first-person shooter, Brink.

According to the post over at the games official website, the first game update for the Xbox 360 version of the game went live at launch. It addresses "several of the issues raised in some of the early US reviews of the game and brings with it some major improvements," says the post. This includes reducing the texture loading times, client prediction inprovements when playing online and several other fixes that solves the issues that "could lead to the game freezing, and resolved an issue where Brink would insist on playing all of the training videos rather than just the introductory one."
For the PS3 version of the game, the first game update was released late Monday and includes the same fixes as in the Xbox 360 version, resulting in a smoother online performance. In addition, "host migration has seen several improvements as well, and we've fixed an issue where the Ability Wheel sometimes displayed the wrong class abilities," notes the post. "This update also fixes several potential freezes and, like the Xbox 360 version, now only plays the introductory tutorial video at the initial prompt, rather than all of them." Slash Damage adds that even though PSN is currently offline, you can still update your gameif your connected to the internet.
Now moving on to the PC version of the game, the first game update is said to include two immediate improvements to Brink, greatly enhancing the crash reports through Steam to improve the stability of the game and "fixes an issue where closing the game before getting to the character selection screen can corrupt your character data and make it unusable." The update is now available as soon as you restart your Steam client.
In other PC news, Splash Damage has revealed that they are currently working closely with Bethesda Softworks "to identify and solve any hardware compatibility issues that people have been reporting." For all AMD graphics card owners, the Brink team notes that you need to install the "latest AMD video drivers as that will solve a fair few of the visual and performance issues out there." The same goes to NVIDIA card.
"The next game update for the PC version is already in the works, and includes a fix for the FOV issue some of you have been reporting on the forums, among several other things," concludes the post.
