BioWare not closing doors on Jade Empire comeback |

BioWare's Jade Empire, an action RPG which first showed up on the original Xbox back in 2006, deviated from the company's mostly semi-turn based RPGs. Fans of that particular game may see a comeback -- be it sequel or re-release -- but BioWare can't promise anything.
"The thing with Jade Empire is ultimately it's one of our intellectual properties, it's there, and one that we're intensely proud of," said BioWare's Mike Lidlaw, who took care of writing duties on Jade Empire. "It did such a neat job of building this fantastical world. Currently obviously nothing is announced. It's one of those things that long-term, [Jade Empire] could make a comeback."
"It may, but we'll see how time goes," he added.
The section of the gaming public who are eager to see Jade Empire return -- Laidlaw refers to them as a "really strong central core" -- will still have to wait a bit if it ever happens at all. According to Laidlaw, a lot of things have to become aligned -- stars not included -- before BioWare sees a chance to jump into the game's ancient China-inspired world.
"It's something we look at every once in a while and consider - it's just a matter of where the business is, and the team - making sure everyone is passionate about it before anything happens," he said. "It's a number of situational things."
BioWare had already made some headway into bringing Jade Empire back into the game industry, of a sorts. They released a piece of armor patterned after the one worn by Death's Hand, the Emperor's right hand man in Jade Empire, in their Dragon Age II Facebook tie-in, Dragon Age: Legends.
