Bethesda: Holiday game rush is good, but some games get shafted |
Listed in: News Tags: Bethesda Softworks, Pete Hines, skyrim

Bethesda Softworks vice president Pete Hines likes the big holiday rush for games, but he feels that some get overlooked.
"It's probably healthy for the industry because the industry gets a lot of attention when there's all these things happening, just like the movie industry gets a lot of buzz when there's a bunch of really big things at the movies and everyone's talking about them all," Hines said.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will have some stout competition this holiday season, going up against the following games: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Uncharted 3.
"It's probably not healthy for everyone who has one of those titles, because as you rightly pointed out usually someone gets the short end of the stick. Someone ends up falling short and not doing quite what they expected to do."
Bethesda wants a one console future.

I think that if someone had to choose between two FPS rehashes, a Zelda rehash, a sequel to a PS3 exclusive and Skyrim then they would choose Skyrim. If they didn't pick Skyrim over the rest than they probably wouldn't pick Skyrim if it had no competition anyways.
Though, when you think about it, there's always next year post-patches/bug fixes and dlc ripof- er, bundles...
They'll make their profits just fine.
