We thought something was happening today for Assassin's Creed III and now we have it. It only makes sense, this being Independence Day and all, and the trailer does not disappoint. It's mostly live action and while it's not as good as some of the other live action video game trailers that have come out of late (such as the Metro: Last Light one - that one takes the cake) it is a good effort.

It shows various American colonists giving reasons why they are resisting British rule set to some piano music before plunging into the CG bit for a few seconds. It sets the tone well, but looking around online it sounds like it's pissed off a bunch of British people. Given that this is a war that ended over 200 years ago and the game is being made by Canadians you'd think it would be fairly noncontroversial. I dunno, what do you think?

Assassin's Creed III will be out October 31st, 2012.
