It's official; Ubisoft has confirmed that AC3 will be out this October and that it's been in development for 3 years. October 30th, 2012 is the exact date and Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot says they've been working on it for 3 years. He also says that what he has seen so far looks "fabulous." He also confirmed that Assassin's Creed: Revelations has shipped 7 million copies.
The big question on many minds, mine included, is "When and where will it be set?" Assuming the questionairre Ubisoft supposedly put out last fall was real and put to good use, we could be looking at settings such as Ancient Egypt, Feudal Japan, the American Revolution, the Russian Revolution, Ancient Rome, Medieval China, the Spanish Conquistador era, or Victorian England.
It seems like it would be easier for the franchise to go backward in time rather than forward because of the higher incident of firearms, but I'm looking forward to it regardless. Three years of development shows they've put the proper work in, so I'm down for it.
