Arkham City to be Mark Hamill's Final Joker Role |

It’s sort of strange to think, but there are likely just as many people that associate Mark Hamill with Batman as there are who associate him with Star Wars. In both franchises, he has played a completely iconic character with strong ties to fans across the globe. However, just as he hung up his lightsaber at the end of the original Star Wars trilogy, he’s setting aside his trick bowtie and insane cackle now that Arkham City is on shelves.

The actor has long hinted that Arkham City would be the last time he visited the role of the Joker, he was quoted at last year’s San Diego Comic Con as mentioning that the game would be his character’s last hurrah. He seems to have confirmed this statement as of this morning, posting this to his Twitter account:
“Hello/Goodbye Joker! I've enjoyed every minute behind the wheel of the Crown Prince's crazy car- I'm going to miss him more than I can say!!”
We’ll have to see if this fond farewell holds up – it’s not uncommon for actors to walk away from a role only to return for something particularly interesting, and Hamill has noted his desire to act in the Joker-centric Killing Joke. In the meantime, here’s hoping we get some more Joker performances from John DiMaggio – he was great in Under the Red Hood and naturally has my vote due to an unabashed love for Futurama.
Will you miss Hamill’s Joker? Do you feel that Arkham City was an appropriate send-off for the character?
