Aliens: Colonial Marines is All About the Atmosphere |

Let's face it, movies based on the Aliens franchise haven't been all that true to the source material. Gearbox is hoping to change all that in their new game, as we've mentioned before, by actually consulting Ridley Scott (director of Alien and Prometheus). Though Ridley Scott disregards everything but the two movies he was involved with, it's good to have him on board in some capacity.
Anyhoo, Gearbox has put out a new dev diary that further elaborates how these guys have embraced the atmosphere of the Aliens movie to make their game true to the source material. They were amped to get their hands on the audio files from the movie; getting little details right like the beeps of the Marines' motion trackers is key and they recognize that.
They even worked with the movie's set designer to get the look of the Hadley's Hope colony just right, even though it's blown up by the time you get there. Then there's the Sulaco ship, which looks dead-on the movie.
All in all, this is finally looking like a true homage to the Aliens movie. Let's hope they do it justice when it comes out in February.
