With the ability to deliver higher quality resolution - up to 32-bit color 1024 x 768 pixels, a PC Monitor can provide an enhanced gaming environment. However, when connecting and playing console games on a PC or notebook, gamers experience a significant performance delay between moving the joystick and seeing the resulting reaction on screen.

So, this is useful how if there's a huge delay for the thumbstick, the most important part of games?

kura you hate America for what? you are quick to judge people by others actions. who cares about this device. you insult people who never offended you. good way to keep peace..... sheesh

Device seems lame.
Kura you aren't very smart are you? You base your opinion on a country based on a device/product that a company has produced.
The idea of america that you "hate" is exactly what you have become. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I don't believe it. There is no way that this magic device is somehow better than all the rest of these TV tuners. I'm sure there will be a huge delay and horrible screen quality. Just get the TV. I have a laptop with a 1920*1200 screen, yet I will use my 34", non-HD TV to play my Xbox 360 when I get it.

I just bought this and it works great!!
Absolutely ZERO LAG/DELAY with the joysticks and the display. Pic quality is great (max. res is 1080, if stretch past it gets a little blurry, but not that bad.) I use it all the time.
The only downside I have right now is my audio is about 2-3 sec. behind the picture, but I think my sound card settings are off somewhere. Because when I record gameplay, and play it back the audio is dead on. So it has to be a bad setting somewhere, or needs reinstalling.
Great Product. Easy to use. Absolutely Zero controller delay. Highly recommended!!

Sorry to be anon but I just found this site... but this does work very well because there's no delay. Many other video in products (especially external) have a noticable .5-1 second delay.
It does NOT make the picture look better. All you're doing is blowing up the S-Video (or, ick, composite) input to full screen. That doesn't mean it's suddenly 1280x1024 on a 17" LCD. It means it's 640x480 blown up. Depending on what you're doing, it looks anywhere from decent to blurry. And in my case, I had to heavily tweak the video settings (which are really stupidly in another app! You can't have it full screen while adjusting color/contrast/etc, you have to quit, run the setup app, change it based on a very tiny window that's hard to see the video, then go back in) to make it look decent (it was very washed out at factory settings).
It is a VERY VERY basic software encoder using a very stripped Intervideo WinDVR Home Theatre as its software. It's VERY good for its intended purpose (hooking up a game system to a PC with no lag) but if you're seriously going to be encoding video for future use, get something better than this (or WITH this).
I notice no audio lag problems either in recordings or 'live'...
So, yes, Adaptec is going crazy with the hype, but the "no-lag" part IS something uncommon (although not entirely impossible to find!). It'd be nice to see the software upgraded to have a bit more functionality but it's decent.
For what it is, 4 stars. (in my case I needed lag-free so badly I am overlooking some of the problems)
As a general purpose capture device, 3 stars. It's too basic and too limited to be anything better than 'average', but at the same time, works as advertised and has some unique aspects. (out of 5)
(and it is really, REALLY tiny. and I am sure I'm going to lose some of the stupid proprietary cabling it needs to connect everything!)
