Activision: Guitar Hero didn't get care it needed |

According to Activision CEO Thomas Tippl, the Guitar Hero franchise never got the "nurturing and care" that it needed.
"Guitar Hero probably didn't receive the amount of nurturing and care that it needed to maintain that position, and I think there were a number of good lessons to be learned," Tippl said.
"There were a number of elements to the franchise, as well as our relationship with the providers of the music, that didn't make it conducive to make the digital transition," he continued.
Guitar Hero was put under much scrutiny after the series was being constantly milked by Activision.
"If we come back, and when we come back, with a reinvented Guitar Hero experience, I think all of that will have to be taken into account. Clearly, consumers still have a lot of love for the brand."
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said back in July that the publisher has plans to reboot the series: "We said you know what, we need to regain our audience interest, and we really need to deliver inspired innovation. And then we're going to go back to the studios and we're going to use new studios and reinvent Guitar Hero. And so that's what we're doing with it now."

It's like a father coming out and publicly saying that he left his son behind at the supermarket and never bothered to go back and get him. And is now just wondering if he should go back and look for him.
