One Xbox 360 user has solved his power supply overheating issues with a… ghetto rigged cooling system. Saying, “Yes, I know it looks tacky - yes, it really does work - no, I didn't do this for laughs - yes, I will be improving the design in the future.”

I respond: Agreed. Cool. Could have fooled me. Sweet, keep us posted!

Nice (i guess)...Although it does look very VERY VERY fugly, and the design is pretty big. Personally, if i were having overheating problems i would have taken more of a "compact" approach and just have mounted a fan to the top of the brick.

It would be better to take the housing apart, drill some vent holes and add a couple small fans to the 12v or 5v lines in the power supply.

My friend has asked me to help him keep his power supply cool and being a case modder helps.

A dremel is the one of the best all around tools to have. Microsoft is an idiot, even old old computers with 150w power supplies had a fan or some sort of active cooling system. For them to decide that it was okay to design a power supply with no fan was idiotic of them.

Er... My understanding was that the power supply has two fans inside of it, part of the reason making it so massively big.

wow, that looks ugly. If your xbox overheats just take a case fan and wire it up to a usb connector. 5v in the usb should spin the fan fast enough. Plug fan into the back of xbox360 and point at power supply.

or you could just call ms and change your gear for one that actually works properly

real funny, a good effort and obviously thinking for the good of his 360.
Main fault here is that the 360 is squashed into that wooden unit. There are important vent holes at the base of the 360 as you will see when you put your hand there and feel the intake of air.
Take your 360 out of that tight space before it goes pop, then you wont have anything to be powered by your ultra cool psu.

if you have a faulty/overheating psu why not just send it into MS and get a new one instead of making the thing mammoth sized?

by - 0000-00-00 00:00:00

Now it just needs a cooler to cool off the power supply cooler o_O

The 360 does have 3 USB connectors, meaning you can put some hubs up to it. Meaning you can use a lot of USB devices. I have my 360 on a 3 fan USB laptop cooling pad. (for precaution reasons) and I have a USB powered fan on top of the PSU. Although the PSU ALREADY has a fan in it, feel the side of it if you don't believe me.

Wow, this guy is an idiot, I bet it's not even his power supply overheating, look at how cramped the actual 360 is, what a dumbass.

by - 0000-00-00 00:00:00

Ahh, this is where my pot growing skills come in handy. I'm the master of ventilation.. obviously this guy is not.

by - 0000-00-00 00:00:00

I just put a fan in the cabinent with the 360 and powersupply...haven't has a problem yet...

by - 0000-00-00 00:00:00

or....just get a metal plate, such as aluminum and place the power supply on that, never have ne problems
