One harmless little feature of the Kiosk Demo DVD, the contents of which are being distributed on the 'net, is the ability to swap out the movie files for other video files. The video plays back flawlessly when replaced by an Xbox 360-combatible video file.
Enter Videora Xbox 360 Converter. Using the converter, you will end up with compliant videos in mpeg-1, mpeg-2 and high definition wmv. Using the app, you can also convert your Xvid or Divx videos for play on your new system.
According to Videora's site: "Videora Xbox360 Converter is a free video conversion application developed by the creators of Videora. It allows you to convert your regular PC video files (avi, mpeg, etc) into the proper video format that your Xbox360 understands."
The news should come as a welcome addition to the countless Xbox 360 owners who currently lack a PC with Media Center -- currently the only official way to stream or play back videos on the system that aren't downloaded from Xbox Live.

hmm.. this is false. if you check out their videora faq it says
"Is there any way I can play my own videos WITHOUT a Media Center PC?
No. Without a Windows XP Media Center PC, you can only play back the movies Microsoft offers in the Xbox Live Marketplace."
Videora only converts format to what a 360 understands. you still have to have a MCE PC.

Thats what you use the Kiosk Demo DVD for.

Videora only seems to convert to mpg, not wmv?
Anybody got any good tips on converting to HD wmv?
Windows Media Encoder keeps bombing out on me! :(
Cheers!

its not streaming if you have to write the file to a disc. besides, you could just convert any video to dvd format and play that on your 360

how do you get the kiosk demo dvd stuff? is it in the download for the videora thing?

In Perspective,
This post is saying that you can use the Videora program to convert whatever videos you want (DIVX etc)into a format the the 360 will be able to play back, provided you inject the files into the kiosk disc and use that as the launcher for the video media.
