Team Xecuter has recently taken a stance on the I.C.E modchip controversy that has been circulating the web. Xecuter states

“Our point of view is that this is not real, or possibly they had some success but discovered some new security structure in the 360 and are scratching their heads but of course posted the news too quickly.”

Reminding the public that well known teams will relase pictures, videos and technical info before a release to prove that the chip or mod is real, Team Xecuter is taking a cautious stance and calling this chip a fake. They go further and quote Devino from their recent statement as saying

"The 360 chip is 99% a scam, we had booked tickets to go meet them, we were ready to make huge prepayment and more after we meet the guys at their office and see the working X-Box 360 with back-ups they 100% confirmed they had and it was no problem to show etc. Now at last second they cancelled, with some lame reason, those guys are scammers I really believe. They did the same to Xenium, backed off and changed completely what they said."

DevinoÂ’s experience sounds more than suspicious to say the least. What do you think? Is the chip real or fake? Voice your opinions in the comments below.

I say fake because microsoft i'm 100% knows about modchips and how they work. Most like have even bought ones for the old xbox. With that in mind you really think that Microsoft would not find ways to prevent this from happening. Fake until they are like the guys who made psp2tv possible. The psp2tv guys actually showed video of how you mod the psp and showing it with actually working.

I doubt it's totally fake, they are taking money for preorders, if it's fake they get sued for millions of dollars in fraud, and get jailtime. Like TX said, they probably ran in to something else with security and the chip won't be released for some time, they'll just keep telling the people who preordered that it's been delayed.

they are only taking orders , they say don't send any money

but right now sounds fake , until a chip is in teh hands of a modder and installed and working , I dont beleive anything about a 360 chip

why didn't they just waited till it 100% worked...

They were selling preorders on eBay.

Yeah it sounds almost completely bogus to me.
The pessimistic viewpoint would be that it could be an undercover attempt by Microsoft to measure the number of people willing to pirate Xbox 360 games, though I don't know this group's history so that might be wrong.
Really though, if this does nothing but allow people to copy games then it's not really something that lets you make better use of the 360, just rip people off. What I'd like to see is a device which allows people to run homebrew apps/games from an external USB flash drive, or some way of streaming video from a portable device without the need for Media Center. Granted Microsoft could allow this themselves, but if its only job is to allow copied games, fake or not, it doesn't do the scene any good in my opinion.
