Too Human, Silicon Knights' futuristic take on Norse mythology, wasn't very warmly received when it came out. Reviews pointed out stiff combat and facial animations as well as the annoying length of the Valkyrie scene that occurs whenever the player character dies.
Despite the lukewarm reception, Silicon Knights still plans to finish what was intended to be a trilogy. Speaking to Industry Gamers, studio president Denis Dyack said, "We intend to finish the trilogy but no comment beyond that... You know, there's very public litigation around that."
The litigation that Dyack is referring to involves a lawsuit that Silicon Knights brought up against Epic Games. In the suit, Silicon Knights alleges that Epic provided them with an inferior version of the Unreal Engine for use in Too Human. In return, Silicon Knights wants a cut of the profits Epic made on Gears of War, which the former further claims was being funded by licensee fees that the latter received for Unreal Engine 3.
A federal court rejected some of Silicon Knights' claims in March 2011, particularly that it could cancel its license agreement, that Epic interfered with its contractual relationships with publishers, and that Epic has acted unjustly under the license. Other claims made by Silicon Knights await a ruling.
