Rage developer id explains importance of DLC |

With post-launch downloadable content already confirmed for Rage, it's no wonder id Software already has a few people working on new content for the upcoming shooter. The studio isn't just going all willy-nilly with their DLC selection, though, as they want to actually release something that gamers would want.
Rage's creative director, Tim Willits, told RockPaperShotgun that while a few of the studio's artists and level designers are already laying the groundwork for the game's DLC, they're still waiting for post-launch feedback to accurately gauge what kind of DLC would appeal to Rage players.
"You shouldn't just assume people like that then find they want something else," he explained. "So we wanna find out what they actually like for the DLC.
Willits admitted that having to work immediately on DLC after the game launches is more exhuasting compared to how id used to do things, but said that "it's good too because, when people buy the game, they spend a lot of money on it. To them it's an investment. If they feel like the company that made it doesn't want to invest in it, then they don't want to invest in it. That’s why I think DLC’s important.
"We're the patch kings, you know, so if there are issues that come up we've got to patch them. I think those things are important, to let people know that you still care about that franchise, and you want to support that franchise. Then you can make them say, 'okay, I'll put my money down on this franchise.'"
Rage comes out this October on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. id boss John Carmack is really proud of this one.

So I end up buying one map for $15...
I've not regretted buying DLC for Bethesda games, Bioware games, Halo 2/3, and the AC series.

"Id wants to make sure the DLC they release is what players want."
yeah! exactly - I'll tell you what I want.
I want this DLC 'FREE' like updates are free with other forms of software. As games are still just software and if I paid full price for its official release then if DLC/updates are offered then I'll have'em for free cause I've already paid a whooping price for the title already.
Please don't give excuses for your greedy bull. I'll pay your SRP and thats it - bye!
