Thinking about placing a pre-order for The Darkness II? If so, then you're in for a nice suprise. 2K Games have announced that from now until launch, everybody who pre-orders the game will get a free upgrade to the Limited Edition version. It's only going to be available "while supplies last", so you better get moving.

Most of the additional content included in the game's Limited Edition version are digital. There's a "Crazy Abdul" alternate darkling outfit and download codes for digital copies of the first two volumes of The Darkness Origins comic.

There will also be two ability upgrades: Gourmet Hearts and Relic Hunter. The former provides players a bonus for eating hearts while the latter helps you find collectible items in the game world.

Finally, the limited edition variant will come with a custom illustration by Marc Silvestri. That's the only physical bonus you'll get.

The Darkness II was originally supposed to come out this month, but it was pushed back to a February 2012 release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. At least that gives gamers more time to save up for it.

I thought the original Darkness was pretty good if a little buggy. Anyone else enjoy the original or the comics?
