Left 4 Dead 2's Dead Air episode to be unlocked early |

Last week, Valve challenged the Left 4 Dead 2 community to hit 20,000 playthroughs of the Cold Stream beta. The deal was that once that mark was passed, the Left 4 Dead 2 version of the original game's Dead Air episode would be unlocked early. Leave it to the community to rise to the occassion.
"You started playing at 10am on Wednesday morning. Four and half hours later you surpassed the 20,000 target," Valve revealed. The post went on to reveal that the 20,000 playthroughs mark was tripled within 24 hours.
"We are going to try and release it as early as possible but will release it on July 22nd the latest," Valve said. "It isn't currently ready for release as we have been working on The Terminal and Finale maps and need to test them more internally."
The Cold Air DLC, of which Dead Air is a part, is a beefier version of a project by a Left 4 Dead 2 modder that quickly caught the eye of both the community and Valve.
