Gearbox: Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer is all about fun |

The Duke Nukem games probably won't ever be called bastions of seriousness. Gearbox Software's upcoming entry in the franchise, Duke Nukem Forever, keeps the previous games' irreverent nature not only in the single-player component but in the multiplayer modes as well.
Speaking to GameShark, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford categorized Duke Nukem Forever's multiplayer as being more fun-oriented rather than focusing on competitive tournament-oriented balancing.
"Duke Nukem's multiplayer game is very specifically designed for the audience that prioritizes entertainment and fun in their multiplayer games over all else," said the Gearbox boss. "Any group of friends that want to get on-line together and just have a great time are going to find a lot about Duke Nukem's multiplayer to love."
"Because that was the goal, the priority of attention can be dedicated towards the rare and unique weapons and the support of so many different strategies rather than effort towards really competition oriented features that more than 90% of the players never notice or really need to worry about," Pitchord added. "Everything requires time so it's all about what you prioritize."
PC and console gamers alike will be able to experience Duke Nukem Forever's multiplayer modes when the game comes out this June on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. You can find it on retail shelves starting June 10.
