Gearbox Software has finally announced the Hail to the Icons Parody Pack, the first downloadable content pack for Duke Nukem Forever. Coming this autumn, the DLC pack will feature four new multiplayer maps and some new game modes. The maps are as follows:

  • Call of Duke – Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b.
  • Sandpit – Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Bombs.
  • Inferno – Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from?
  • 2Forts1Bridge – Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers.

There will be three new game modes. In Freeze Tag, players team up to freeze and shatter their opponents in succession to rack up points streaks and combos. In Hot Potato, players compete to see who can hold on to the babe the longest. Finally, there's a Duke-style free-for-all called Hail to the King.

Gearbox has yet to announce a price point, but First Access Club members who registered before the game launched in their country will get the DLC pack free.

Right, because the multiplayer wasn't even worse than the single player right? I don't know why they even bothered with multiplayer DLC for this shitbomb.

IF the DLC is not free for everyone then it'll be a bust.
The game wasn't that good to start with. It's a 10 year old game so will the DLC also be 10 year old too?
Sounds like its all multiplayer addons so its a "why bother" for me.

that is all.

why spend time creating DLC for something that only hardcore fanboys like, wouldn't it be better spent creating a good game?

sorry gearbox, but i got DNF in the 2K collection steam bundle and I clearly won't be buying any DLC for that game especially if they are for the multiplayer...

Maybe an extension to that anti-climatical ending would nice. Or do something in the vein of Red Faction: Guerilla

Ummm that would imply that someone turned them OFF in the regular game in the first place... ;-p
