Final Fantasy XIII-2 release date announcement coming soon |
Listed in: Games Tags: final fantasy xiii-2, Square Enix

Those who hated Final Fantasy XIII are probably already disturbed by the fact that it's getting a sequel, but gamers who just can't get enough of Lightning and her friends finally stand to learn exactly when Final Fantasy XIII-2 comes out soon. That's what director Motomu Toriyama seems to be hinting, at least.
Gaming news site Andriasang reports that the Final Fantasy XIII-2 director has hinted during a Q&A session held over the weekend that the role playing game's final release date will be announced by Square Enix during this year's Tokyo Game Show. The event will commence on Thursday, Spetember 15th.
The Q&A session also confirmed that those who held on to their Final Fantasy XIII save data will get some bonues goodies in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Chocobos are also getting an expanded role. Where players could only ride them in the Gran Pulse world in Final Fantasy XIII, players will be able to ride them anywhere in the sequel. They will only be available past a certain point in the game, though. Apparently there's also a unique red Chocobo.
Those looking for a lengthy story will have to settle for a shorter one than that found in the original, but thanks to the many mini-games (including a monster raising component) and a time travel mechanic the actual gameplay length of Final Fantasy XIII-2 could easliy eclipse the original's. Great news for players who want their RPGs long and arduous, and not just because of the overwrought cutscenes.

Not necessarily .. companies do that to 1) throw people off and 2) protect their domains and properties so others can't capitalize on the popularity.
