Bethesda: Consoles can still do some things better than PC |

Bethesda has already admitted that a lot of work has to go into making a game as large as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim work on multiple platforms, but seeing as this will be the third time they're making a PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 title they've gotten better at it.
Game director Todd Howard says that they now feel quite comfortable on the Xbox 360 console, in particular. The game will still look better on a PC, but home gaming consoles still manage to do a few things better than the more powerful PC platform.
"We are very comfortable on 360," he told gaming magazine Edge. "Yes, it will look better on PC. The PC has moved on a lot. With the kinds of things we do where we are streaming a lot, even your average hard drive on your average PC these days is crazy fast at ripping data.
"The negative on PC is that there are still a lot of layers of API before you can look at the hardware. So we might be able to get the data faster on PC, but what we do with that data is still easier on 360 and PS3 where we can look directly at the memory registers and do what we want."
Hopefully that means the launch version of the game won't have too many glaring -- or even gamebreaking -- bugs. Bethesda has also recently dropped hints of a possible Wii U port of Skyrim.

Also... I think everyone needs to tuck their boners and wait for the goty edition with bundled dlc and official/community patches. I'm psyched for Skyrim as well, but I'm trying to be more logical this year...
