Wii SportsIt has been reported by MTV News today that the Nintendo Wii will have some 'face-sucking' features. If you remember back to E3, the AOL contest winner was invited to play Wii Sports with Shigeru Miyamoto, Satoru Iwata, and Reggie Fils-Aime. The three Nintendo executives had their faces drawn onto their game character's faces.

Well, it turns out the Wii will be able to do this for anyone.

"The Wii Sports series features these little models which you can put your own faces on. You may start to see those characters (with faces you've created) appearing in different games on the Wii system,' says Shigeru Miyamoto. This statement brings up a lot of questions: How will the Wii suck your face into the game? What does Miyamoto mean by having the characters appear in other games?

Hopefully these questions will be answered soon. This feature will make Wii games even more interactive!

it will read a file

I am thinking that you can load a picture onto the SD card of your face calling iT something like face.jpg and the wii game will read that file.

Dosnt matter that its been done before (I mean, skinning is nothing new to PC gamers), the fact that its there, if done right, could be loads of fun for party games. I imagine some kind of camera prep will be announced soon then (or have they built that into the controller too? :P ) And I'm gussing the "other games" will just be the other sport games in the Wiisports.

WOW!

That's awesome! I once tried to edit my guy's face on the Sims for PC, and it looked retarded, but this sounds a lot better for the Wii! This'll be unique indeed! :D

Great Feature

What does Miyamoto mean by having the characters appear in other games? Well I'm assuming he's saying the Wii will come with some sort of software (or otherwise provided on "face-character" combatible games) allowing you to edit your character and save it to the main flashdrive/SD/whatever you want to store it on. Later on you can use your character for other games compatible with the face-character feature. Imagine if you could buy/download special Mario/Metroid/Zelda characters and use them to play a game of Tennis. Personally I'm looking forward to Zelda using his shield for tennis and his sword for golf. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Wiicamera anyone?

Well, I think you could possible connect a USB digital camera, an eyetoy or a webcam you have and use that as the Wiicamera.

#6

Not a bad idea. I think that it'd be more of a software thing like that or a straight up jpeg like #2 said. However, when you started talking about Mario/Zelda,etc I thought you were onto something else but you didn't say what I thought you would. What if you could make villagers and other regular people in games like Zelda with faces of your family and friends and maybe celebrities? It'd be fun playing an RPG where your party consists of you and all your friends or a Zelda where you and family members' faces can be put on random villagers.
