Nintendo servers breached

Don't worry, Nintendo is reassuring folks that although their servers were confirmed to have been breached, they definitely did not lose any significant data.

nintendo-logoThe company sent out from their Tokyo office confirmation of this news through Ken Toyoda. According to the spokesperson, a breach was reported in one of their US unit's affiliates a few weeks back, but it was deemed to be an unsuccessful one.

Nintendo is guaranteeing that they were not damaged in any way, and that all information remain secure from their side of the pond. This news comes in the heels of the very traumatic Sony PSN breach which occurred late in April and went on until mid-May.

Sony is just getting back on its feet after that wicked stumble, having to not only answer to angry consumers, but also to the US Congress. A couple of weeks back, Eidos also reported that their servers got hacked, compromising email addresses.

nintendo must have done a thorough internal investigation as well too before announcing this to the public.

And people are still going to blame Sony for the problems Sony has been having...

People want credit card info. It's not about hurting the gamer or industry... It's not about revenge or OtherOS... It's about money and greed.

money and greed? they could've hacked a bank. And where are the reports of the stolen credit card info actually being spent?

Its gotta be revenge for the Sony's shady business practices to tell them to step up and admit their faults.

Remember, hackers/programmers/IT specialists/etc are smart people who have good, comfortable jobs. Its far from the stereotype of them living in a basement with their parents (in fact, gamers own that stereotype).

They can slack off and just sit at the office/server-farm all day watching youtube or whatever if there is nothing to do.

Doing this "vigilante" work is for shits and giggles.

Yeah, I'm pretty cheesed that Sony updated they're terms of service stating that we basically "rent" their products and we can't mod or do whatever cuz they can sue us.

Lol, hilarious IMO.

Attacking Japanese conglomerates and murikan defense contractors.

Too bad the Chinese dont really have a reason to go after MS yet.

lulzsec claimed responsibility.

however, they said they merely wanted to point out to Nintendo that they found a hole in their security

"We're not targeting Nintendo," the group said. "We like the N64 too much; we sincerely hope Nintendo plugs the gap."
