Nintendo's GDC presentation also included word of some upcoming Game Gear releases for the 3DS. Sega has recently offered up more details regarding which titles will be released first on the upcoming Nintendo eShop.
The first round of releases will consist of five classic Game Gear titles. The lineup will include Sonic Triple Trouble (Sonic & Tales 2 in Japan), Sonic Drift 2, The GG Shinobi (known as plain ol' Shinobi outside Japan), the Fatal Labyrinth sequel Dragon Crystal Shirani's Maze, and the gem stacking game Columns.

"This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Game Gear system, and we believe that releasing these titles on the groundbreaking Nintendo 3DS is a great way to commemorate the occasion," said Haruki Satomi, vice president of Digital Business at SEGA of America. "Both new fans and those with fond memories of time spent playing their Game Gear will surely find something to love in our upcoming lineup of Nintendo eShop titles."
All of the five games mentioned above will be part of the Nintendo eShop when it launches in May. No pricing details were announced yet.
The Game Gear was Sega's first foray into the handheld video game space. First released in Japan in 1990, the handheld holds the distinction of being the third commercially available handheld gaming system. It was launched outside the region beginning in 1991. Sega continued support for the Game Gear handheld for around seven years until it dropped support in 1997.
Sega will also release games from NEC's TurboGrafx-16 system on the Nintendo eShop. Details on what these games will be have yet to be revealed. They wil join Game Boy and Game Boy Color re-releases from Nintendo.
