The Super Mario killer is back, Sonic Generations out now!

Ó

In what is hopefully a strong 12 month revival for SEGA, Sonics 20th birthday has been an Ok birthday gift for the spikey blue guy.

What Sonic Generations does well

  • Emerald hill Zone is back after receiving the renovation treatment from SEGA's graphic designers (from Sonic the Hedgehog 2);
  • Sonic Adventure's Speed Highway level;
  • Retro Sonic stages play like the classic, side on view;
  • Sonic looks really, really good;
  • Makes you lament about Sonic's glory days.

And, what it doesn't!
  • The switch to contemporary Sonic feels clunky and the camera switches around too much;
  • You can't switch between 'contemporary' and 'retro' Sonic cameras as you wish, it is determined by the levels;
  • There is too much trying to be done on the screen at once;
  • Frame rate fluctuation in places;
  • Make you lament about Sonic's glory days.

SEGA have said recently that after Sonic Generations there are no further plans to release another Sonic game (though this could change).

Sonic generations is solid, it does what it is meant to do, it celebrates the large number of Sonic titles that have gone before, but this is also where Sonic Generations falls down.

In the current console generation, Sonic just feels out of place, you expect him in his 2D spikey sprite, instead what you get is a weird variation of what makes the game great, and just down right confusion when you are getting around in the levels.

Played it? Loved it? Hated it?

Have your say, down below.

"SEGA have said recently that after Sonic Generations there are no further plans to release another Sonic game (though this could change)."

thats odd since weve only gotten 1ep. of sonic 4 but then again they have yet to port that to 3ds'es eshop either

its so far been a great game aside from casino night pinball being in the level load screen instead of being in the startup menu i would have perfered it be part of pinball fx 2

Sonic 4 Episode 1 sucked horseshit so, they probably want to forget like it never happened.

Mario killer? 'What it does well'? Hah, where's the POV tag for this article?

We all know it's not going to dent Mario, especially with that new 3DS one (Forget the name, don't have a 3DS) coming in which looks to be a chart topper.

so much errors, this isnt being nor is it released on wii, its ps3/360.pc n a diff 3ds version later.
secondly sega said they were putting sonic the hedgehog 4 ep 2 on hold till generations in complete and they appearently have one more sonic games in the works.
and honestly only way sonic can still be a mario killer is if they give sonic to sony and or make it for sony exclusively because thats the main competitor of nintendo and nothing will beat mario as long as its released on nintendo consoles because ppl doin mario have the kind of advantage naughty dogg has with sony
