Eiji Aonuma has made two fantastic Wii games and while speaking to Nintendo magazine, Eiji noted that they could not go back to "button controls now," saying "so I think that these titles will be used in future Zelda titles." At E3 2011, Nintendo showed off that the new control scheme will help evolve the player experience.

The new Zelda games have been quite focused on the control schemes, even the DS versions, the games have worked their way into making sure all of Nintendo's technological advancements work with the console/handheld, rather than against it. This is apart of it being a part of Nintendo's big first party releases, but also some really well designed games.

The E3 demonstration showed the use of the Wii U tablet with the in-game inventory system. This will be amazing for immersion gaming and I honestly can't think how the tablet could be used for game's in the Mario series.  But for Zelda and Metroid games, it would be fantastic. However, once the game is transferred from the TV to the tablet, how will it work?

Guess 3DS is the only thing getting my Zelda money for Nintendo. I really dislike motion controls especially for games as long as zelda and even worse i hate being forced to use motion controls, just make it a control scheme and regular controls as another and everyone will be happy.

The new Skyward Sword control scheme is wonderful adn i don't see how a normal control scheme would fit in there, .. the sword swing & shield, flying, beetle, bomb throwing etc is all designed to be sued with motion control and they fit in. Controls really matter this time, and going back is not an option.
Asking for a "standard" control scheme is dimming the game experience, just like asking for "touch ready " special and Super moves on a Street Fighter game, so players they could feel like playing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade"..
Skyward Sword Its a 5 stars game.

i found that they didnt improve on TP they just got worse. whenever the cursor appears it can be misalligned which is annoying(reason for that is they dont use the sensor bar past the strat screen their just depending on the motion sensors & it seems that if you dont wait long enough for a npc for example to stop talking to you & you move the control stick before that happens you just changed the neutral position for the stick

i like the motion thing but i think they should make improvements on it, it has alot of problems, and they should make the game more dynamic, and try to get you more connected to the story, and a bit of variety in the task, not just repeat 3 dungeons to get the 3 pieces, it is getting too old, and an open world for gods sake. skyward is just too divided, no feeling of adventure, sad

Agreed, although the game is great, Nintendo has a limited Budget for game.. they try to do the best with what they have in hands, just like Majora's Mask, Tweaks and recycling Ocarina of Time Engine, Motions, etc. Designing Dungeons means money , but is cool, but expensive, on an "open world " game you have lot of building, caves, etc, but few interaction that means something, and is not only a VFX make up ( destroying this or that for fun )..
Think Uncharted, LA Noire, or Skyrim and how much of the surrounding adds to the game. Just a small %. They are there for visual impact, but means horus and hours of people working behind sketch, models, panels, and textures.

i agree that it costs money and a lot but, as you mentioned above, if you read about skyrim they keep saying a completly open enviroment, its a selling point and a big one for the game, i think its one of the major reasons the game is a major success, and if zelda would have something like that, i'm sure it will push its sales, and also the graphics on uncharted are its selling point as well. noir well i would have prefered it with out the open world it was a waste of time for me.

Although I felt the controls for Twilight Princess were tacked on, I have to say that Skyward Sword felt...right. i cant imagine going back to buttons after that game!

A motion controls are suitable better for zelda because zelda have lots of shooting and grapper at the tree and leaves on the wall... Its easily to target rather than gamepad is difficult. Good thinking, Nintendo. :)

My god, the motion controls in Skyward are awful.
They add a complete superfluous layer of complexity onto an already complex game.
Now, after 25 years of playing with this button for shield and that for powering up your sword, we have to learn a whole new grammar to interact with Hyrule and the adventure there-in.
A complete waste of a great chance.
They could at least have kept the perfectly good Twilight Princess GC controls, there is little in the game that wouldn't be possible with a proper controller as an option.
I think the motion controls have been way overhyped and history will prove us right, that it has damaged the accessibility of the series rather than enhanced it.
But then, how many times have Wii motion controls enhanced anything? Aside from Wii Sports not much.

Really? you press Z for lock on targeting. I just got the wii so I'm new to the controls, but thus far, the skyward sword controls have been fantastic. And I agree with the poster above, aiming is much easier with motion control versus analog sticks. Especially when it comes to the sling shot and bow&arrows.
