Well, we knew it would happen. After Nintendo announced its controller design an functionality, it was predicted that companies would attempt to copy the design and impliment it into other systesm. Enter SplitFish:
SplitFish GameWare showed off a truly funky PlayStation 2 controller that feels more than a little like the mysterious Nintendo Revolution controller. The DualFX Controller is a two-piece PS2 controller with tethered halves: a gun trigger and an odd laser movement system.
The left half of the controller is a fairly average analog stick with a D-pad and shoulder buttons, similar to the left side of a standard PS2 controller. The right half, however, is a gunlike device with a laser pointer. The laser tracks movement in the controller and lets players actively aim in first-person shooters. The laser system proved very inconsistent in hands-on tests, but it is, at the very least, an interesting approach. The DualFX will start shipping in March and will cost about .

Truly atrocious. Blasphemy and it's an eye sore. Everyone is still a big step behind Nintendo. This is proof. Graphics processing power doesn't mean ****. Any one can do horsepower in a console if they have money and alliances.
The Big N is on another level all by themselves. It takes balls to claim themselves out of the race and attempt something different.
If this keeps up, such as biting off Nintendo's stuff and making inferior products, then DO NOT be surprised if Nintendo wins this upcoming System Wars.
I see the DS vs. PSP war as a good indicator.

I concur with anonymous above. One could say that is is coincidence, but it is too close to the "nunchucku" style nintendo presented it is just blatent copying of design.

this HAS to be third party, or maybe they just havent updated yet but this is probably the most degrading thing sony has done
i love sony but i hate em for this, but they again the nintendo revolution may be a complete failure, or a complete succes, its great for shooters like RE4 though

i think it's an interesting first start...the video game world isn't about precedents..in 5 years no one's gonna care who came up with that style of controller first...it would be great if eventually all of the gaming companies had there own variation on an interactive easy to use controller. If the reveolution is succesful i can gurantee you they will and it will be a great day for gamers.

No, SONY separated from NINTENDO because there were defects in the new console they were producing, but sony just wanted to get it out on the market while nintendo insisted on working on it more. Then sony stabbed nintendo in the back and fled to make the console theirs.

Nintendo asked Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on called "PlayStation" for the SNES. Because Sony wanted 25% of all profits Nintendo earned from sales of this PlayStation and all PlayStation games, after Sony revealed that they were developing it, Nintendo instead went to Philips. This caused Sony to consider abandoning their research, however instead they used what they had developed so far and made it into a full blown console. This led to Nintendo filing a lawsuit claiming breach of contract and attempted, in U.S. federal court, to obtain an injunction against the release of the PlayStation, on the grounds that Nintendo owned the name. The federal judge presiding over the case denied the injunction.

Yeah a third party company made it...BUT don't you think Sony and MS will try to copy it somehow if the Revolution controller becomes successful? History has shown that they have. Don't be ignorant.

If your gonna debate, do it knowing both sides. Otherwise you'll seem like a winny little runt with an opinion that has no meaning.
Nintendo is not just a kiddy console. Just because there isn't much opportunity to bang hookers or always crave that lushious blood, doesn't mean it is a kiddy console. Metroid Prime, Zelda, and more prove to be maybe not the most mature (except for Metroid), but are the most fun. Before you shoot your mouth... think about the other side.
About the Nintendo fanboys, stop blaming Sony or others just because you feel like you most protect Nintendo. Nintendo has it's unique feel and so dones Sony. Sony has the power and bigger gore library, while Nintendo focuses on the fun factor over the others, and that is why the DS is winning at the moment. Not by power, but by games. PSP doesn't have the best library at the moment, so that is why.
So stop complaining and stop cursing out Sony for copying. If you ever read and not just look at pictures, you'll see it is a Third Party company, not Sony who made the controller. And I don't think they'll directly copy Nintendo, only learn from them, or if they are more successful, build apon it.
Face it, the Revolution seems to be most at mind, but E3 2006 might change that.
