Wii U Browser Won't Have Flash, But It Does Do Other Cool Stuff |
Listed in: News Tags: flash support, nintendo direct, wii u browser
Lack of flash support has been a trend started by Apple, but has since picked up ground with many other various manufacturers as well including Google's own Android OS. As the web slowly becomes more and more packed with HTML 5 based content it seems that the other way of animating has just become too bulky for the lean and mean presentation of today's internet. In a not so surprising move, it has been found that the browser found on the Wii U will also be following suit with the competition with regards to excluding flash, but that does not mean it can't do a bunch of other cool things instead.

Following the translation of Japan's Nintendo Direct event, there are plenty of cool features with regard to browsing the web on the Wii U. With the device's advanced touchpad controller, it looks as if navigating your favorite pages is going to be a snap. Scrolling in particular looks as seamless as ever with all movement being conducted by just a simple flick of the stylus. In essence, this browser is able to give you that tactile touch screen browsing experience found on your phone, but on a much bigger surface projected to a much larger screen.
Another handy feature of its uniqueness resides in the console's own design. Because you're more or less using two separate screens to navigate through content, it will be possible to multitask. If for example you want to load up a YouTube video on your TV while looking up something else on the gamepad, that option will be fully accessible to you. Additionally, if you are in the middle of a heated game, the console can take title of that game and plop it right into the search bar should you need any help completing that difficult level.
I don't know about you, but as of right now, despite its lack of flash capability, the Wii U web browser looks to be the best we've seen on a console to date.
