Wii U as E-Reader? |
Listed in: News Tags: app store, Nintendo Power, tablets, wii u
We already know that Nintendo is working on an app store for the Wii U, however we don’t really know what sort of apps to expect. It’s obvious they’ll be incorporating as many media options as possible in an effort to expand the appeal of the device, and one rumor in particular indicates that the company may be looking to E-Readers as its next field of play.

Nintendo is apparently reaching out to certain iOS developers and requesting that they develop software for the Wii U – one developer in particular notes that the company is focused on bringing newspapers, magazines and user manuals directly to the devices’ tablet-like controller.
If true, it’s a sharp idea on the part of Nintendo – tablets are an incredibly hot market, and the likely low price point for the Wii U will make it the perfect entry-level device for both gaming and tablet multi-tasking. Of course, this is all still in the rumor phase; anything can happen when it comes to Nintendo.
My favorite part of the rumor: digital delivery of Nintendo Power. I used to love that magazine back in the Super Nintendo heyday; it would be fun to re-up with a digital subscription delivered directly to my Wii U.

It's pretty bad that you have to keep repeating that to just about everyone you come across. Scratch that....pathetic is a better word.

You'd think they would have figured it out by now. You figured it out quicker than others but its still took you a long ass time.

It doesn't have a strong processor. It has just enough resources to be able to stream button presses, camera, and video.

No, they aren't. You completely pulled that out of your ass.
Anyone who asked about the "tablet" at E3 was quickly corrected that is WAS NOT a tablet.
Do yourself a favor, stick to facts and make sure you flush everything that comes out your ass.

Next your going to be telling us the DSiXL is a fold out half tablet. Or maybe you'll be your usual troll self and tell us how Nintendo ripped off Microsoft's Courier design.

Nintendo Exec 1: "Hey, let's make a console that has apps in it for multi-media! Like eBooks!"
Nintendo Exec 2: "Sounds good, but let's leave out DVD playback!"
Nintendo Exec 1: "Makes sense!"

Next it will be Sony copying them, like they always do.
So far, Nintendo has been pretty successful with their gimmicks.
Tablet features on a home console? Brilliant!

When the Razer Hydra got released, nobody bitched about them copying Nintendo's Wiimote. I wonder why?
Reply
The Hydra uses a base-station that the controllers use as a stationary and dependable point of reference.
It's hard to complain that someone is copying when they do so much right.

so no.
but anyway it is logical nintendo try to make a hybrid beetween the ipad from apple and a playstation3 to get more success.
they allways tryed lultiscreen with ds and gc/gba .

Wii Remote relies on one of the universes most weak forces. And one that you can accidentally create and the controller has little or no way that it can tell between accelerated Gs and Gs from a body of mass.
Meanwhile, Hydra uses a force that is stronger and can't be accidentally created by movement. It just has one solid and definite point of reference.

3DS XL with removable top screen might make for a nice controller as long as they add that second analog.

I laughed out loud.
