Ubisoft CEO Not Happy With Wii U's Price |

The Wii U launch will be upon us in the coming days, and this has left a huge portion of the gaming community incredibly excited to see what will come of the first real foray into the next generation. As you all probably know by now, the Wii U is in many ways expanding on the old formula by keeping things familiar and light with the use of the gamepad, but according Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the price isn't exactly where he would like it.

In an interview with Games Industry International Yves had quite a lot to say about the next generation of consoles, but if we're taking things in some kind of order, why don't we start out with the good news. For one, mister Guillemot is incredibly impressed with Nintendo's choice to use a touch screen in their next console. In his own words, "the [Wii U] GamePad is interesting; it's interesting because it's a touchscreen that people know how to deal with. This GamePad can be as revolutionary as the Wiimote, just because people are used to dealing with it." In a sense then, it is the familiarity that will once again bring all of those Nintendo diehards and families alike back to the console in droves.
However, the industry figurehead wasn't so favorable when it comes to how much the Wii U costs. Priced at $300 and $350 for the more value packed deluxe bundle, you can bet that the majority of households will probably wind up going for the more expensive option. After all, you get four times the storage capacity and a game for just fifty dollars more. Still, to some that does not seem like a fair bet. Yves in particular says "With what it brings [to the gaming table] it's cheap. But I hope they'll be able to drop their price in time," citing that while it is cheaper than Apple's iPad he hopes more can be done to trim the tag. How are you all feeling about how the configurations are priced? You only have a few more days to mull it over!
