Nintendo Drops the Bomb on Wii U Specs |

Ó
Nintendo’s E3 presentation centered heavily on the Wii U, and like Microsoft and Sony’s presentations, just wasn’t that interesting. Sure, a new Pikmin sounds fun, but the rest of the line-up seemed like your boilerplate Nintendo content. Couple of highlights, a Mario game, and some family-friendly stuff that will manage to sell millions despite the derision of “hardcore” gamers.

Anyway, with the official unveiling finished and done, Nintendo has pushed live the full specs of the Wii U device. And here they are:
- Dimensions: 1.8 inches high, 10.5 inches deep and 6.8 inches long.
- Weight: 3.41 pounds (1.5 kg).
- CPU: IBM Power-based multi-core processor.
- GPU: AMD Radeon-based High Definition GPU.
- Storage: Internal flash memory. Also supports SD memory cards and external USB storage.
- Media: Wii U and Wii proprietary optical discs. Most Wii games will be compatible.
- Networking: Wireless (IEEE 802.11b/g/n), plus four USB 2.0 connectors for LAN Adapters.
- Audio Output: Six-channel PCM linear output via HDMI connector, or analog output via AV Multi Out connector.
- Video Output: Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i.
- Wii U GamePad: 6.2-inch, 16:9 LCD touch screen, twin analog sticks, D-pad, L/R analog sticks, L/R stick buttons, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons, ZL/ZR buttons, Power button, HOME button, -/SELECT button, +/START button, and TV CONTROL button. Accelerometer, gyroscope and geomagnetic motion control, front-facing camera, microphone, stereo speakers, rumble and support for Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality. NFC allows for wireless communication with objects held above, or placed on, the GamePad.
What do you think? It’s nice to see Nintendo finally enter the world of HD, but the lack of raw processing specs makes it tough to get an idea of how powerful the console actually is.

I believe the reason they leave out DVD playback is exorbitant licensing fees for that. But on to main topic looks pretty f***ing awesome! Can't wait

Are you fucking kidding me, Nintendo? Dude, I was a Nintendo fanboy, but what you did with the DS and Wii, you made sure I would never get any of your products. Why would you do that? Dude, listen, you already said the Wii U will not have DVD playback.... Just like the Wii... Why would you do what the Gamecube did?? All of your proprietary products fail miserably.... I don't want you to fail, but it seems like you do. I guess I'll be happy playing Pokemon on my Vita in a few years.

And USB 3.0 would only work if the thing you are connecting to is closer than 16 Feet. Or you had a bunch of repeaters.
