Don't like the Wii U touch screen? Don't use it then, says Nintendo.

"I don't think it's necessary for any and all developers working on software for the Wii U to make use of all of its features, including the touchscreen," said Nintendo EAD's Katsuya Eguchi.

"Regardless of whether it's a Nintendo developer or a third-party developer, if it makes sense for the game to make use of the touchscreen, I hope they take advantage of that. If it doesn't, I hope they don't. But it is one of the unique offerings among all of the consoles available out there, so if it does give a distinct flavor to the Nintendo version of a game, then I hope they utilize that to its fullest."

So far it sounds like developers like the touch screen, especially Electronic Arts, who say that they are blown away by the console's innovation.

I just realised: How annoying is it going to be to put your fingers on both the R(I think they call "R2" the Z Buttons) buttons and press the ABXY buttons? I hope they did some testing and made sure it works.

Having held one, it works fine. I heard many people ask how well it would work in a childs hands but seeing as how there were no children there at E3....

Lol holding a tablet without using the screen NICE.
Personally I hate the idea to have a tablet as controller.
It's not innovative it's crazy. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

We're all now using SNES controllers, on SD TVs, with Stereo sound, and 800MB discs.

That thing needs some serious downscaling. Nice idea, but there's no way that can be fun to hold. Tolerable, sure, but right now, ergonomically, I doubt it has anything on the DS3 and the 360's gamepad.

Well, having held one and watching many other people hold it I can safely remark that it was fun to hold. But they did say the design was not final.
