New details regarding Wii U controller functionality have been revealed.

This information comes courtesy of a Nintendo of Canada representative.

"...not every game will necessarily have the focal point as the Wii U controller. It's new technology, it's a new way to play, but it doesn't have to be the focal point. we know that there are a lot of misconceptions about Wii U; the majority of the population wasn't at E3, and didn't get a chance to actually have hands-on, so the reality about what Wii U is going to do is that it's going to change the dynamic of what happens in your living room, or wherever your TV is. The dynamic of that room is going to change, and it's going to be Wii U technology that does it," the rep said.

"Having this controller that offers a different perspective, or a complementary perspective, or being able to take content off the TV when other people want to use the TV for something else. It keeps people in the room together, either all playing together or doing different things, but they're all kind of connected in a slightly different way than what's possible right now."

"And so changing the dynamic of that TV room space is what Wii U is going to do. That's a pretty philosophical way to look at it, but you saw only what was potential at E3, and that's... well, the whole thing is philosophical right now, although it's a tangible piece of hardware, and an accessory."

EA doesn't think that Wii U will be a stop-gap console.

"we know that there are a lot of misconceptions about Wii U"

No joke! Just look at most of the trolls on this site alone. For example, you have people like the anon user "sucks" who talks about how he'll never play a WiiU game because the person with the new controller will have an advantage over everyone else??? Pure ignorance.

There's going to be a lot of people eating a lot of crow when the WiiU comes out.

Hmmmm......... I never said I would never play it. I said I would never play a multiplayer game if I was forced to use a different controller than someone else.
Let's put it like this. You say the WiiU controller is so great compared to the Wii's controller, yet you say there will be no difference in the way people use it in regards to multiplayer??
Dude, you've got some very disturbing train of thought.

It's either better than the Wii controller, or it's not. You can't pick and choose when to use that logic. It's a fact that is bad or good depending on the situation. Whenever the situation makes it a bad factor, you ignore it as a concept.
That's the definition or either a fanboy or retard. You're not a retard. So... What does that leave?

"You say the WiiU controller is so great compared to the Wii's controller, yet you say there will be no difference in the way people use it in regards to multiplayer??"

Nope, I never said that. But it's understandable that you could take ANYTHING I say and utterly screw it up.

The problem here is, you're full of ignorance about this new system. MY guess is, you've never even used it or played it. The only thing you know about it is what you've MISREAD on the internet. The WiiU will continue to use the older motion controllers. The NEW controller will be used in an appropriate manor in a whole new way. Why you can't understand that is beyond me.

Well, it just looks like an iPad with physical buttons.

Unless it brings something new other than better graphics and Nintendo-brand games, I'm not interested.

That controller looks .. incredibly bulky. I think it'd be AWESOME for single player games, especially RPGs and whatnot, maybe even for FPS (select weapons and stuff, if you can do it fast enough) .. it looks really ridiculous and hard to hold.

But a lot of people who have had hands-on time with it say it's actually pretty comfortable. It definitely does look quite strange and bulky though

Just wait until you get one in your hands. It feels fine plus it's not done yet.

I can't comment on little kid hands but it felt fine in all the hands of people who were asked within my earshot.

No matter what he say a tablet isnt a controller. They like to call it innovation i like to call it going nuts. As much as use to love Nintendo they seem to be high on pots when doing things right now. WiiU is as powerful (or maybe little more) as a 4 year old console and all we hear about is the damn tablet. Seriously do they think this is 1998. Time to wake up and smell the roses, there are more alternative out there and you need to shape up. Give us a proper upgrade and a proper controller (like Gamecube). Only then i will buy this "thing".

And how it had a strange controller? Remember how it was the best selling console of last gen because of that controller? Now, they're releasing a powerful console with great graphics and a new control scheme. Graphics can only look so good and I have a feeling that next gen is going to be even more about how we play games and not how we see them. In my eyes, this is no different than a Nintendo Ds that only has a touch screen. If the DS only had one screen, would it be a tablet too?

what i dont get is how is this innovation? they did that crap with four swords adventure only difference now is its apart of the system and it has more features lol, psp was able to work like that with ps3, the vita can and wiill work like that with ps3, u can do online and lan between ps3 and vita honestly nothing is innovative they need to stop and go basic and stick with the gamecube control cuz that was a nice control. playstation stuck with the dualshock which is a amazing control but it does need a slight upgrade in size and the r2 and l2 need to fit the finger better but other then that its the best control, has motion sensing and it has the perfect buttons for any gameplay style, hell 360s bulky control is perfect for everything but fighting games

midas well just realease an app for the ds that allows it to be hooked up for certain wii games, then make games that can only be used with the ds or dsi system make it a popular game too, not just some random 3rd party. people will buy wii points to get the app so they can play the game problem solved, they still make a decent amount of cash

wait to buy the wii u till u find a game u rly rly want on it, im getting an xbox 360 before i ever get a wii u, it sucks

Looks like nintendo marketing is again pushing the "overly excited family playing nintendo together" image. What they fail to mention is how a independent screen on one controller will accomplish this.
