Molyneux Unimpressed by Wii U |

Peter Molyneux is a fairly well respected figure in the games industry. The creator of Fable and passionate advocate for experimental gaming is known for his honest comments and (sometimes) accidental over-promising.
Anyway, Mr. Molyneux recently commented on the new Wii U, and spoke on his concerns over how the device will play out in action:
“I think the Wii U is good, but I don't feel it's great. I find holding the device in my hand -- looking up at the screen, and looking down at the device -- slightly confusing as a consumer. It's good, but it's not great. And we really need these new pieces of hardware to be great in today's world, because the competition isn't just consoles anymore. The competition is everything, all the technology.”
Moly makes a good point about consoles no longer being the only thing gaming companies need to worry about, but some may take issue with the thought that it’s impossible to use a small screen and a big screen in some sort of harmony.

He can't be that respected or well known, I've never heard of him before. I can't recall him ever being mentioned on this site either.
He also has a kickstarter project going and while it's going "good", I wouldn't say it's going "great".... LOL!

I know who he is, but if you didn't you could have taken two seconds to wiki his name instead of acting like a douchebag and realize hes made major games like Black & White and Fable.

Just because you make a game that doesn't make you an industry respected professional. Gees man, at least "try". There was absolutely nothing within the first 5 pages of Google that even hinted at this guying being a major respected player. All I found was people pissed off at him.

But Nintendo always manage to do well even with lower specs and much more limited System softwares when it comes to entertainment other than gaming.
The only reason that they do so well is that they make such exellent games for their systems. And that they tries to deliver new technology Like motion controllers, 3D without glasses and a "gamepad with a screen and streaming capabilities"??
Im actually going to buy a Wii U so dont get me wrong here.

As far as GAME machines go...it's all about the GAMES.

I mean the multiplatform industry has grown and it's not only the console exclusives that count anymore but 3rd party games as well. If you dont have a console that compares to the competition your console will be flagged as the weaker one and the internet will be filled with evidence! And if you look at the Wii im sure you have heard lots of people complaining about the wii not having DVD playback compatibility. Every aspect of a console these days gets reviewed and critizied. And it hurts the companys reputation in the end to be flagged as the weaker console.
People are making jokes about Nintendo these days for making such low performing consoles. Or are you blind and deaf?

Right! As Todd said in another post, I'm sure Nintendo cried themselves all the way to the bank over that one. Clearly, more people do not care than people who care.
Do you realize that (somewhere) over 80% of all game console owners do not "read the internet" to get their game console information? Yes, that was an actual study based on responses to questions regarding where they got their information from regarding xxxxxx console.
Although....don't get me started on "polls".

Unfortunately recent years haven't been kind due to the whole making promises and not living up to them, Fable and The Movies dented his legacy a little bit. Not sure if Black And White did, never heard anything negative about that one.
Curiosity definitely hasn't helped though. Yeah he has a Kickstarted, and it's gotten some negativity due to his name/status but that's the way things go.
I'm not too surprised by his comments on the Wii U, it much like any console that brings in new concepts will be divisive. I think the looking up and down aspect is something people will get used to over a few plays not something that you'll get used to immediately.

All console designs and future designs is all just going one way,
720p(HD)- 1080p(True HD)-2160p(4K Ultra HD) and 4320p(8K Ultra HD).
What the gaming industry needs is revamped Virtual Reality gaming.
