Satoru Iwata, global president of Nintendo, recently talked about analysts that have misunderstood the Wii U and writers that haven't experienced the system yet.

"Because we put so much emphasis on the controller, there appeared to be some misunderstandings," Iwata said of analysts. "We should have made more effort to explain how it works. We haven't made any kind of blunder, but I should have shown a single picture of the new console, then started talking about the controller. The console is not drastically different, and Wii U is about the controller. The console itself will be almost invisible."

On those who haven't experienced Wii U, he said, "there have been two groups of people writing about our announcement - those like the Evening Standard, who have been able to experience the Wii U, and those who have not, and are simply writing about it from wire stories and pictures. They cannot see how this can be a game changer. What Wii U will offer is very different, but I believe we have the strong potential to change the entire format of videogames and of entertainment."

Find out how Wii U will end the core vs casual debate.

I don't think they did a good job of explaining that it's a new console and not just a controller.

Calling it the Wii u dont help either. Makes it seem like an add on or something. It should be clearer like Wii 2 or Puu. Now grandad isn't gonna get this because he thinks he owns it already :(

Like Super Nintendo.
What kind of name is that?
It sounds like it's just an add-on to the NES.
I bet the SNES sucked.

Lol! Kiddo. The Super Nintendo is still one of the greatest systems of all time. The have a ton of great games for it. Todays games are of course way more advanced but back in the day of Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, those two systems had some great super fun games. The reason why they called it Super Nintendo was because back then when people mostly referred to saying they were going to play some Nintendo, people knew that was synonymous with playing video games on tv do to the popularity of the system. When Super Nintendo was released, they called it that to emphasize the leap and sell the point that it was a more extreme leap forward. I still have find memories of playing many hours of Super Nintendo. Back then, a great game was more about the gameplay and story because the graphics were not as they are this generation but there were many stories that are better than many games out today and also a lot of gameplay you see this generation came from ideas created back during the old console games. I miss buying a full complete game off the store shelf for less than we see incomplete games today and not have to worry about patches, updates and online. You just push the cartridge into the console, turn the power on and within a few seconds your playing the game. Sweet!

Or... Maybe because they didn't really show anything in the demo reels. "We have something that has a million possibilities, but we'll show you 2 possibilities."

the snes didn't suck have you even tried it (apparently not since you put "sucked" meaning you haven't even tried it). it had some really neat titles mostly the Mario series and the donkey Kong series and my favorite Killer Instincts that game was great! anyways im not going to say the Wii you is a good console seeing as ive never even tried it. I just want to know what the price will be , possibly about 350 and up. Zelda HD looks awesome.

I think in the next e3 in 2012 they would show more of the console and games coming out for it. But for now there just teasing us and quite some of the questions for the controller. If we look at the timing, it's still pretty early for us to know and guess how well it will do in the long run.
