If Nintendo Wants To Improve Its Standings With The Wii U, Here's What They Have To Do - The 3DS Can Play a Role in Wii U Success |

Make the 3DS an Integral Add-On for Wii U Owners
It's true that in a lot of ways the 3DS did have a somewhat slow start quite similar to the Wii U, but if you look at how things are now over five million units have been sold as of July 2012 which is quite a bit better than we can say for Sony's PS Vita. In shorter terms, the 3DS is decimating the competition in the handheld space. While it may be feeling a bit of pressure from tablets like the iPhone, it's still a place where developers feel more comfortable and where plenty more games are made. There's still a heavy reliance on first-parties here as well, but there's a certain increased confidence from other teams that making games here won't be a waste of their money.

All that being said, there's no reason that the 3DS and Wii U shouldn't be two connected consoles right now. Both sport two screens so really the possibilities can and should be endless with what you can possibly do. We've seen Sony offer cross-play between its handhelds and consoles both with the PS3 and PS4, so why couldn't Nintendo join that party? As of November of last year Shigeru Miyamoto thought that connecting the two would be too complicated, but I think that is a serious misstep on their part to feel that way. As a consumer, I love when tech I already own can in some way be useful to adding to a new purchase. So maybe the hardware could be too weak to support cross-play, but why not at least make more eShop games work on both. With the next Super Smash Bros. coming to both systems I have a glimpse of hope for more, but right now Nintendo's two sectors are not as close as they could be.
Back when the original Wii was in its prime, many publications called it "the year's hottest toy." Is this a title that could fit for the Wii U?

I don't know about yours but all three of my local Best Buys in SoCal USA have shrunk in the console area by at least 40%. That's massive! I asked the store manager at one of the locations and she flat out said console sales are through the floor.
