Nintendo may have been afraid of their place in the market before but now it seems that fear has blacked out any secondary or third-party criticism, a lá George Lucas. Nintendo have however revealed that they learned from their big American brothers and decided to make a big leap and go for a lot of feedback on their next-gen console. In an interview with Nintendo Gamer, Fumihiko Yasuda and Yosuke Hayashi, Team Ninja devs, talked about the brand new console saying it was "very easy to develop for."
This goes against early reports from last year with a lot of rumours flying around about the difficult many developers experienced working with the console and tablet. The Ninja Gaiden creators said they are finding it very similar to "develop for the Wii U as for the [360] and PS3." According to their work Nintendo is continuing to make changes based on developer feedback. "They've asked us what we would want from the hardware and when we give them feedback we can see that they're definitely listening to it and making changes" Hayashi said in the interview.
Team Ninja are actually currently working on the DS title Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword which is one of their first ventures into the touch screen market. "The hardware is constantly changing . The Wii U's touch control is like the Nintendo DS', we released [Dragon Sword]...so we want to introduce some elements from that into the Wii U version [of Ninja Gaiden 3]"
I'm kinda excited for the Wii U after hearing that they're really taking developers notes on board but I can predict a lot of last-gen (current gen) ports for Nintendo catching up rather than brand new games. There has been little word from 3rd party developers on the Wii U even with a launch date late in 2012 even though they must be working on something...

i have to agree with your ending comment that it sounds like the wii u will end up with just getting ports, ports and more ports....... do you disagree ubisoft?

Although I could be wrong since some devs like using older systems.
