Vigil, developers behind Darksiders II, claim that Wii U provides more power than PS3 and Xbox 360.

"We're not trying to bump up or bump down, but we reached it, and it wasn't hard. Once we got it up and running it was like 'cool, there it is. We're still waiting on that final hardware and architecture, and help from Nintendo to figure that out," said Vigil's Jay Fitzloff.

"Right now, it looks like it's more than the 360 or PlayStation 3, but there's still a question mark about how much you can squeeze out of it. You know how it is, a new system, tricks get learned as the lifespan goes along, so this is where we're starting, and it looks good. There was pressure originally as we only got the Wii U development kits about six weeks before E3 and wanted to get it up and running. Learning new hardware is the hardest part, it's uncharted territory," he continued. "You have a problem with Xbox, you call up, and the answers online - it's all ready. Whereas this time, you call up after finding a problem, and they're like 'wow, we don't know, let us know if you find an answer!' It's not hurting the other platforms because to get Wii U running we need dedicated heads to think about how we're going use the Wii U platform to make the game cool."

EA says that Wii U transcends anything that the company has done before.

5 years after PS3 and 6 years after 360 nintendo has better graphics than them. WOW NINTENDO SUCH AN INNOVATOR THEY DID IT AGAIN SO HIGH TECH NO ONE CAN BEAT THEM SEE WE KNEW THEY'D HAVE HD WII WAS AWESOME HIGH TECH AND THIS IS TOO!
Just wait until PS4 comes out and its f*cking 4ghz octacore, 16 thread, graphics power like a freakin triple SLI'd 490. Then nintendo freaks will say "COPYING WII CUZ HD GRAPHICS WOW AND OUR CONTROLLER BETTER".
I hate nintendo lovers... I'm not just saying that either. I have a wii and its fine, but people who think nintendo is just the best are idiots...

dont speak about computers, you dont even understand what youre saying. dual gpu sli doesnt work with 3 cards secondly theres no such thing as a 4 ghz octa core with 16 threads. if youre over stating then dont even try to argue. why bother whining if youre just whipping out non existent technology

Intel have an 8 core Xeon E5 with hyper-threading on the way. Clocked at 3ghz, but I bet it'll go higher easily.

And you can have up to 4 dual gpu's in SLI if you have a mobo that supports it (ie pci express 3.0). It is existent tech, just not cheap. Yet.

Console-makers are not going to use the latest computer hardware. Here's a hint: If the total price of the parts cost more than 500 USD, it's not gonna happen. The 8 core Xeon won't be under 500, by itself, for at least a year.

8 core....that's just going to make task manager a bitch to look at LOL! With dual 6 core servers we have 24 threads running. The quad CPU machines have 48 and makes it pointless to even open task manager to look at CPU usage. We have to use third party tools.

4 GPUs is rather pointless, 8 is even more pointless only because the PCIe bus can't handle that much data. That's why SLI isn't DOUBLE the performance when you add a second card. Which makes 3 only barely worth it and it makes 4 cards hardly worth it. You wont really get your monies worth.

That's why you have multiple PCI-e buses.

SLI across multiple busses would be pointless. If two GPUs did talk on two different buses then the CPU would become a bottleneck. That's why they are chained on the same bus.

But honestly I've never seen any benchmarks on such a setup. Do you have anything to look at?

Another misconception.... many MBs only support 16X across two ports. Yet they support 3 way SLI. Once you plug in that 3rd card then you downgrade all your GPUs to 8x. I discovered that the hard way when I added a third card to a system only to have it perform LESS. Had to change the MB.

They really need to improve the method in which they notate how many PCI-e slots there are. Like, Total bus width, and the width of each physical port. Currantly it says ho many "full size" slots there are and you're lucky if you don't have to hop over to the manufacturers site to see exactly what the bandwidth of each slot is.

What exactly is the power of a single 490 that has been SLI'd? Isn't the point of SLI to combine the power of inits? Why would you say something is the power of a single 490 in a triple SLI?

So that's one devs opinion. I guess now we need about 100 more then we'll have something solid.

The Wii U is still a long ways off, but it's nice they have the game running on their early dev kits.

Good, nintendo can say they have the most powerful console since the nintendo 64 days. That is until the new playstation and xbox come out, then nintendo will just have an inferior wii again.
