Another Hour Long Wii U Update Coming? |
Listed in: Accessories, News, Games Tags: day one update, Nintendo, wii u update
If there's one thing that has been a stumbling block to the Wii U's exciting launch buzz, it would have to be the release of a day one update. While excited consumers packed their way in throngs to the store in an effort to snag one of these hot selling units, it's been tough to see their faces slowly melt to sadness as they stare at an update screen. What if I told you that this long update is going to be replaced by another one in the near future?

In case you haven't heard, today Nintendo is holding a Nintendo Direct presentation at 9AM PDT. Among the series of announcements my source reports that there could be another Wii U firmware update on the way. What's worse is it sounds like we won't even be getting anything all that exciting to go along with it other than "further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."
As if that wasn't enough to sink your soul, it has also been said that this revision could once again take an hour to complete the operation depending on the speed of your internet connection. Thankfully as a result of some bricked systems last time, Nintendo has supposedly been kind enough to provide a note telling users to keep their consoles on at all times while the procedure is going, but that still certainly doesn't take the sting away. Hopefully as more of the official updates pour in later on we'll be greeted to something that might put a smile on our faces. If one thing is certain, it's that Nintendo definitely needs to speed up their updating process quite a bit. Hopefully these time reports are simply some false news.

The update now take about 20-30 minutes. So calling it an "hour long update" is flat out incorrect.
