Sega just sent us a press release containing a couple of new screenshots for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game Viking: Battle for Asgard. The title is being developed by Creative Assembly and should be released in Spring 2008.

As always, the screenshots are looking awesome with great images depicting the monsters, creatures, and the different characters players will be meeting in the game. Of course, we also have some screens depicting the main protagonist Skarin.

For those not quite familiar with the background story of Viking, it was created with the Norse mythology in mind and the Asgard war that spilled over to the mortal world of Midgard. It began when Loki's daughter Hel was vanished from Asgard for defying the All-Father Odin.

Odin then tasked her own daughter Freya to stop Hel and defend the future of mankind. Here is where the mortal Skarin comes to the picture as he was picked by Freya herself to be the "champion" of the gods.
