Ghostbusters video game of first, second films unveiled - Image 1If you didn't see this coming, worry not: we didn't either until the magazine rolled itself up and whacked us on the head. If your thoughts are hovering around the Zootfly incidents earlier this year, we're sorry to say that it doesn't tie in to this new development anymore. To clear things up a bit, the December issue of Game Informer will be packing details galore of the new video game adaptation of Ghostbusters.

No scratch that - it's a video game adaptation sequel for Ghostbusters 1 and 2. Read on some insights and some intellectual property swapping history at the full article.

First, there were videos. Then came the screenshots. This time we're bringing you some much-needed details regarding Time0, Zootfly's upcoming third-person actioner. PlayStation Universe recently had the chance to speak with Zootfly CEO Bostjan Troha about the game, so read on for a few snippets.

Time0 - Image 1

The tech demo for Time0 was shown running on Xbox 360, so of course there are still some questions regarding a PS3 or Wii release for the title. Troha said that while the ultimate decision "depends on the publisher to great extent," they would really like to "have Time0 on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360." Wii owners are pretty much out of the loop, though, as according to Troha, the game's engine is "just too complex to port to the Wii at this point."

The PS3 thing seems to be a lock, though, as Troha noted that they are currently in the process of porting the Xubl engine to the PS3. The Xubl engine is what allowed Zootfly to port the engine and the Time0 vertical slice to Xbox 360 in under a month, thanks to its platform-independent architecture. It essentially allows the devs to "prototype and develop very efficiently, not losing precious time debugging an editor."

Time0 currently runs smoothly at 720p on an Xbox360. When asked for their target resolution for the PS3 version, Troha said that they will "have to do some more porting and optimizing" to see what can be achieved. The same is pretty much true for SIXAXIS support, but Troha did give out a few examples of what players can do using the PS3's tilt controls, like kicking in doors by thrusting the controller forward and breaking window bars by pulling swiftly it towards you.

As for the release date, Zootfly is still shopping for a publisher, but Troha is optimistic. "If there won't be major changes," he said, "the game should be out by Christmas 2008."

Time0 - Image 1

No longer featuring movies this time around, the daring and upbeat adventure game that is slated to come out for the Xbox 360, the Playstation 3 and your home PC grants a set of 12 pretty stills to look at. Time0 seems to be in good hands with Zootfly as it looks to be making steady progress in development.

As said before, the game stars two New Yorkers who stumble upon a portal to a parallel world where New York is engulfed in shadow. The city itself turns out to be a war machine who wishes to enter our parallel world and destroy it. Zed Condor and Violet Munro have three days to stop the two worlds from colliding. Aside from this, there are no other details... yet.

Time stands still for Time0 - well in the screenshots at least. Check the rest out behind the "Full Article" link below.

Zootfly has unleashed yet another teaser video for their upcoming multiplatform action game Time0 (PC, Xbox360, PS3). We've already given you two teaser vids for the said game, but (as the title says) because you wanted more, we're giving you one more. Fellow blogger Chris L. probably wouldn't approve of all the teasing here, but what the heck, you guys are more important. *winks*

So anyway, as we've mentioned before, the game basically revolves around urban explorer Zed Condor, and Violet Munro, an investigative reporter, who stumble upon an ancient portal in NYC. Little did they know, this portal leads to a wicked parallel world where mechanical monsters have gone haywire and evil runs rampant. The messianic task of saving the world from these monsters is thus placed upon their shoulders, with very limited time (three days, specifically) in their hands.

At this point we're pretty sure you're just itching to have a glimpse of the action so we won't dilly-dally any longer. Hit play and enjoy the vid!

Dan Akroyd spills some ectobeans - Image 1The on-again-off-again-just-give-us-more-info-dammit Zootfly project has been the topic of much talk recently. The Ghostbusters video game has got everyone abuzz. Despite all the ectoplasmic clouds obscuring the game and its details, Dan Aykroyd was able to spill a couple of beans about it.

If you guys remember (and how could you possibly forget?!), Aykroyd starred as Raymond Stantz in the movies way back when. Now, when the Edmonton Sun interviewed him recently, he gave a rather interesting remark:

Universal purchased the rights from Sony for a game. I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year.

Seems like this pretty much confirms it. A Ghostbusters game really is coming out. And it seems that development isn't going to start until next year. Now whether it's really Zootfly developing the game or not, we can only guess. As for a playable Slimer character, gee, no confirmation if he's on the boat on this one.

We're still a bit bummed over ZootFly's aborted Ghostbusters game and we're still a bit sad that most of the videos of the Ghostbusters game got pulled of YouTube at the request of Sony Pictures Entertainment. So while we're waiting for the powers that be to resolve all the IPR issues surrounding Ghostbusters, we decided to look for all the latest gadgetry related to the beloved franchise.

A quick look through the dealer listings over at Hemmings Motor News reveals this beauty:

The Car - Image 1

Ecto 1 - Image 1 Ecto 1 - Image 2 Ecto 1 - Image 3 Ecto 1 - Image 4

Yes, it's the Ecto 1 and its selling for only US$ 149,998, and if the dealer listing is to be trusted, this '59 Cadillac actually has Hollywood history prior to becoming Ecto 1. If the the Ghostbusters game does manage to see the light of day, then perhaps Sony should use this car to promote the game. Sadly, if you choose to buy the car, proton packs aren't included.

What can we say? We're kids of the '80s - we like our toys, no matter how big they get.

Ray's disappointed too. - Image 1Let's talk for a while about ZootFly's planned Ghostbusters game. We all saw the videos. We all got excited (I did, anyway). Now we're looking at the possibility that it's never going to happen.

ZootFly's Ghostbusters videos have just been pulled off of YouTube at the request of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The only thing you'll see when you try to look for them is "This video has been removed at the request of copyright owner Sony Pictures Entertainment because its content was used without permission."

All references to the game have also disappeared from the ZootFly website. According to CVG, who contacted ZootFly about the issue, the developer says that "the videos were indeed removed at the request of Sony Pictures and all references to the game have been removed from its website while negotiations over the rights continue behind closed doors."

Well, at least negotiations are still ongoing, so there's still hope that the game will still see the light of day. With Sony now starting to move, maybe it'll get a PS3 release. Heck, it could even become an exclusive. Whatever happens, though, we're definitely making sure we don't cross the proton streams.

Time0 in one word: Whoa! Time0, an action game from Zootfly - the same guys who are slated to make a Ghostbusters game - is counting down toward the PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3. It pits Zed Condor, an urban explorer, and Violet Munro, an investigative reporter, who come across an ancient portal in New York City that leads to a parallel world where evil runs rampant. A mechanical monstrosity gets released and they have three days to stop it from wrecking the world. Check out these early videos.

FYI: The Time0 engine has already been tested on the XBox 360. Perhaps these movies are from that test? If so, we are very impressed (and giddy)!

Another teaser video after the jump!

Toy Wars - Image 1 Y'all heard about the whole fiasco over the whole Zootfly-Ghostbusters IP issue, and while we wait for that one to be resolved, let's shift our attention for a bit onto the other stuff that Zootfly has up its sleeves.

Whaddya know, Ghostbusters isn't the only game brewing in Zootfly's labs. Apparently, the company is also working on an Xbox Live Arcade title called Toy Wars which will allow XBLA users to battle it out in the backyard with a wide range of toy vehicles.

Details remain scarce and the release date remains TBA, but good thing though we stumbled upon these first batch of screens that Zootfly has just released. And if the rumored increase in XBLA size limit holds true, surely we can make some space for Toy Wars, eh?

So anyhoo, while we wait for more details on this upcoming car combat game to surface, why don't you enjoy these screens we have today and rest assured we'll keep you posted when more game goodies come out.*winks*

Slimer - Image 1 We know developer ZootFly and its game Ghostbusters is in some kind of a fix right now, but news about them (the dev and the game) just wouldn't stop. Judging from your reactions to our initial posts, it seems like a new game will highly be appreciated. And with that said, here's another update about Ghostbusters.

In case some of you are still wondering if the YouTube vids are fake or not, ZootFly states for the record that they are indeed legit. And as to why they posted them on a very popular user-based site, programmer Tibor Klajnscek gives this explanation:  "We were primarily interested in seeing the response from the fans and hoping to get some valuable feedback. I must say that we're very happy with the overwhelmingly positive response to the prototype footage!"

Speaking of which, one of those vids included a chase scene with a revamped Ecto-2. In case you are not familiar with it, Ecto-2 is actually a European Chrysler 300 station wagon that replaced the 1959 Cadillac ambulance. Klajnscek mentioned that while they haven't secured any licensing agreements with Chrysler yet, they are really pushing for this vehicle. He explained: "When we were designing the Ecto-2 we decided to go with the Chrysler as it is a really cool car. Also, the car is European so we hoped Americans would find it more exotic."

If you ask us, we truly, madly, deeply honestly would want to see a new Ghostbusters game. Seeing the four proton pack-wearing dudes in action once more definitely brings back fond childhood memories.
