And no, I kid you not. A PC version of FFXIII is in the works. These words come straight from Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy XIII, (PS3, Xbox 360) when he spoke to NVIDIA press relations at the recent E3 Media & Business Summit 2008. We guess all the emotions drawn from the announcement of Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 forced every other word that Square Enix said to fall on deaf ears, but luckily, someone was listening. And listened good. The details at the full story. |

And just when we thought Jeremy1026's take on the classic dice game Yahtzee couldn't get any better, he pulls the rug from right underneath us. He made various additions to the game on version two that gave the game his personal touch, making it entirely his own. Aside from the Normal game mode, two more game modes have been added for our further enjoyment. Enter, Speed Yahtzee and Challenge Yahtzee, which Jeremy explains in detail on his post. I've been working hard with this to add one new game mode, and make it so there isn't any provisions to playing another game mode that was hidden in v1.51. I added 'Speed Yahtzee', where you have 90 seconds to play through the entire game, when the clock hits 0, game over, whether your done or not. And I also added 'Challenge Yahtzee' where you are given a specific roll, and you must match or beat it before time runs out. Well, here is it, good luck and as always, read the readme for more instructions and information.
I've only played with the two new game modes for just a short period of time, but I found both to be more enjoyable than the original game. Maybe it is because of the element of added resistance present in each game modes, the timer for Speed Yahtzee and the condition you need to fulfill for Challenge Yahtzee. Eventhough we have been yanked from the laid back normal gameplay, it is a welcome change. Download: [Yahtzee v2.0] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

Jeremy1026's revival of the classic dice game Yahtzee has gained popularity among gamers. Maybe that is the driving force behind the constant improvements made to this game. If you don't know yet, Yahtzee makes use of five dice that you'd roll (of course) up to three times in hopes of making 1 of 13 categories of poker-like hands - Full House, Three of a Kind, etc. Since we're on the subject of poker hands, there have been recent reports of a bug concerning being unable to get a Three of a Kind and a Full House. You'll be happy to know that it has already been fixed in this release. Also, a lot of you are requesting for some sounds to accompany the game. And just to prove that Jeremy1026 values your comments, your wish has been granted. You get dice rolling sounds and even some crowd boos and cheers. Nice. Changelog:

Jeremy1026 has released a follow up to his well received version 1.0 of Yahtzee. Yahtzee is a classic dice game played using 5 dice. Each player must roll the dice up to three times in hope of making 1 of 13 categories. Example of categories are Three of a Kind, Full House, Small Straight and of course Yahtzee, which is five of a kind. Here's what he wrote about the game's release at the QJ forums: Well, I released v1.0 on friday, and I had some positive responses, but also had some requests for the game. I did my best to fulfill some of those requests. I added a highscore, so you can show off to your friends how good you are at rolling computer generated dice. And I added 2 player mode, so if that same friend as previously mentioned thinks that your highscore is fake, you can just beat them and show them who's who. Changelog:

Jeremy1026 has released a Yahtzee game for the PSP in our forums. Yahtzee is a game where you can score points by rolling certain combinations of numbers with five dice. You must roll at least a three of a kind of all six-die face values (or an equal to or greater score of other combinations so that the total is at least 63 points) to achieve a bonus, and, further, must attain certain Poker hands such as four of a kind, full house, and straight. A Yahtzee is five of a kind. Just unzip 'yahtzee.zip' and copy the folders in the '1.5' folder to x:/PSP/Game/. When you're done with that you're ready to start rolling those dice. Instructions Select "Yahtzee" from the PSP browser (under Game->Memory Stick.) At opening screen press 'X' to start the game. Roll the dice with 'Circle' Select which die/dice you want to hold with 'Up', 'Down' and 'X'. After your third roll you will have to select where to score your final roll. Select what category you with to place your roll with 'Up', 'Down', and 'X'. Thanks go out to Branin for the tip. Download: [Yahtzee v1.0] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |
