Just so we're all on the same page, everyone at QJ wants to see that second Grand Theft Auto IV trailer badly. While we could wait a couple of extra hours after the release of the trailer to hit YouTube, we wouldn't be die-hard fans if we didn't at least try to watch the trailer the moment it came out. That's why we're spreading the word that Rockstar Games and Yahoo! have teamed up to give Yahoo! first dibs on the trailer. You read that right. Yahoo! Games will be the first official place you can view the trailer. According to what we've been able to dig up, they'll also be offering screenshots and an interview with the makers of the game, so it's definitely something you don't want to miss. In any case, Grand Theft Auto IV's second trailer will premiere on June 28 at 12 p.m. EST at http://grandtheftauto.yahoo.com. If you happen to miss the time (or are in school, work, etc.), we'll also have it on our website as soon as we can find the embed, alright? |

Yahoo! is pulling out all the stops into becoming the web's most comprehensive search engine. Yahoo's Australian chapter has just made available the beta of its new search engine called "Alpha" which makes use of search results from other portals and gives them to the user in an orderly manner.Essentially, what Alpha does is take results from Yahoo's base search and places them in a main widget. It compiles search results from other sites and places them in minor widgets. That way, the user can search Wikipedia, Flickr and other popular search engines without having to leave the Yahoo Alpha page. Software testers have spoken and the beta seems to be working nicely. More features such as customizable widgets and filters should become available as the development nears its last stages. We're excited about this innovation in searching and we'll keep you updated as we monitor its progress. |

Too attached to your smartphone and laptop? You're not alone. Three out of four people in Yahoo! HotJobs say that they now have a sense of blurring when it comes to drawing the line between their jobs and their private lives thanks to wireless communication.According to the survey, 10 percent of the respondents rely on their Blackberry mobile devices to stay in touch, 65 percent use laptops and 81 percent are into mobile phones. Blackberry is a hybrid of a mobile phone and a computer. It offers a compact frame and connection via a mobile provider while allowing the user to enjoy the functionality of a PC with its software. The respondents say that the line between home and office is blurred because of the good degree of connectivity that allows workers to coordinate seamlessly with offices even while off-site. The ability to submit work from just about every point of the globe has extended the workplace almost infinitely. Susan Vobejda, Vice President of marketing of Yahoo! commented "while they were intended to provide convenience and flexibility for workers' lives, they have changed the physical parameters of the workplace and extended the work day. Professionals can work from anywhere and connect at any time." Most of the people who responded to the poll feel that it's wonderful that the technology has allowed connectivity to almost integrate the home with offices while a minority of the respondents say that the wireless connections are helping companies keep employees on a short leash. |

Buying a new console isn't easy. And with Wii being in such high demand - as proven by the Wii-crazes in New York - you could find yourself running around all your local stores searching for a Wii. But things just may get a tad easier. Yahoo! has compiled an in-depth Wii buyer's guide for all the fans out there. This will allow for less time looking for a Wii and more time actually playing one. All you have to do is type in your ZIP code in the guide and it will locate the nearest store where you can purchase a Wii. Other features of the Yahoo! "find a Wii" page include a list of Wii retailers from Yahoo! Shopping, the latest Wii eBay auctions (which at the moment are levelling off at around US$ 610 per console), and a Yahoo! answers page where users can see answers to common questions about the Wii. Use this guide along with QJ articles, and if you have any further questions don't forget you can consult our ever-friendly Wii forums for extra help. Getting yourself some ground-breaking Wii action couldn't be easier! |

Remember these lines? Most cashiers soon figured out that the men and women standing in front of them didn't speak Japanese. Some would then repeat the same question in English, and would all get the say reply, "Only hardware." Based on my observations of the first twenty PS3s sold at Bic
Camera, they were all purchased by Chinese nationals, none of whom
bought any software. After making their purchase, television crews
asked for interviews but all were declined. These temporary owners of
PS3s would then make their way down the street where their bosses waited GamePro reports that 12 hours after the launch 60 GB hard-disk drive models were selling at around 90,000 Yen ($766) on Yahoo Auctions. About fifty percent higher than the original retail price. The cheaper PS3 version, which retails in Japan for about 50,000 Yen, was selling for around 70,000 yen. They claim that there was around one auction ending once every minute on average. They report that from interviews with the many people waiting in line, it was clear that among the PS3 fans there was a sizable group of people who were there to just get the console in hopes of making a profit. Of course we've all already heard of the eBay prices in North America, and we don't really want to go there right? Still, one has to ask, will things be the same for westerners come the November 17? Will lines be filled with people looking to make a quick buck? What will you do when you see those guys from smash my PS3 in your line on launch day? |

Before the advent of internet or computer for that matter, have you ever imagined how it is for our grandparents? We reckon research and studying were a lot harder. With no Google, Yahoo or Wikipedia to rely on, our grandparents had to made friends with good old Collier and Britannica. We're not saying it was sad or anything. We are just saying it was a lot harder.Fate sometimes has a weird way of circling back on us. Take for example the superstar MMO World of Warcraft. It started out as a game. Then it was followed by three more full titles and three expansions. Today more than anything, it is more of a lore or universe in itself. It accepts new realities, follows different rules. Developer Blizzard is wise to compile and put down everything before it slips out of their hand or something is forgotten. Warcraft Encyclopedia. An online collection that contains information about Factions, Immortals, Mortal Races, Languages, Vocations and the whole of Warcraft universe in general. It will be updated as needed probably quite a number of times in a year. Also, there would be a featured article every now and then. This development is indeed good news for fans of this massive, massive game. Veteran players may get sentimental reading about things they'd grown to love while newcomers will be briefed accordingly. |

Nintendo indeed claimed that majority of its campaign will be done online. Search engines being filled with advertisements and other Wii-related materials was of course, expected. It came as a surprise to us, however, the moment we found out the console is having its own Yahoo website. We could only utter, Wow, wow, wii.. Nintendo is really bringing it on.The site which can be found here is consistent with the whole Nintendo marketing campaign, starting with the light blue cool-to-the-eyes color scheme to its rather laid back, relaxed and happy feel. The home page focuses on pertinent matters. There's the Wii explained where a full lowdown of the console is discussed, featured games, international news concerning Wii and Yahoo answers to fans FAQs. Also, there's a special portion of the site completely dedicated to games and the growing community. A countdown clock is also being hosted and as of this writing, just 17 days, 6 hours and roughly 30 minutes remain until launch. Oh, heck. We don't know why we're giving you a full account of their site. Maybe it just proves we really are surprised by this development. In case you visit their site, please come back here and tell us what you think. |

QJ reader mikeall tipped us about this... this... mother-load of homebrew apps, games, flash games and more courtesy of zeron. It made all of us gasp, "Madre de Dios!" upon gazing at its content. But be warned. Indigo 1.3 is not for the faint of heart. This monstrous German package weighs in a hefty 87MB! Maybe your PSP can handle that much. Question is, can you? It has at least a dozen programs:
