Project4 Theme Flasher/Manager - Image 1 Xsjado7 informed us earlier that work has been completed on what seems to be the first theme flasher application for Auraomega's Project4 XMB replacement. The application handles very much like a standard XMB flasher app, and is current capable of handling up to three themes at the same time. Details are available in the full article.

VDrum v1.7 - graphics overhaul, guitar loop added - Image 1

Homebrew developer Xsjado7 has just dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and released VDrum v1.7. We really had fun with this drum kit simulator and we're quire sure you'll love it as well. It doesn't matter if you can't carry a tune as the joy of hearing drum beats coming from our PSP is well worth the time of installing Xsjado7's VDrum v1.7.

Anyway, while several new additions have been added to version 1.7, Xsjado7 is asking users for feedback and positive criticisms to further improve VDrum. Here are the changes made to this build:
  • Added the ability to play a guitar loop while your playing
  • Added ride, bass and rimshot, removed 2nd tom
  • Redid all the graphics with help from ChristianDeluxe
  • Changed hihat, snare and bass sounds
  • Added combinations picture
  • Added an snd0.at3
VDrum v1.7 comes with its own Readme.txt file which will provide you with information regarding control scheme as well as other instructions from the developer. Browse through the documentation first to fully enjoy this wonderful program.

QJ.NET would like to thank ro0kie42 for the tip!

VDrum 1.5 for the PSP - Image 1PSP homebrew developer Xsjado7 dropped by the forums earlier to announce that VDrum has just been updated to version 1.5. For the readers tuning in on this app for the first time, VDrum is a basically a drum simulator for your PSP, and has each button on your handheld mapped to a specific drum.

Version 1.5 of this application carries two handy new features:
  • Added the ability to change crash cymbal to a splash as well
  • Added the hit effect, shows which drum your currently hitting
Users should be able to find the full controls instructions in the readme that goes with the file bundle. Also be sure to visit Xsjado7 over at VDrum's release thread in the QJ.NET forums if you're interested in offering up some constructive feedback. Enjoy the download, and see if you can convince your DS-lugging buddy to play along with their handheld's Jam Sessions.

VDrum v1.0: a drum kit simulator for the PSP - Image 1

Homebrew developer Xsjado7 has just released VDrum 1.0 for the PSP. The creator of the program pointed out that this is very different from other drum simulators (such as PSPRhythm and PSP Kick) due to the fact that each button is mapped to a different drum.

The application looks to have a lot of promise, emulating most of the functions a person would expect from a drum kit. The controls were a bit difficult to get used to at first but quickly became second nature after a few minutes of play. The GUI is pretty basic but works due to the nature of this program. If you plan on trying out this homebrew, you might want to use headphones because the sound is a bit weak with the built-in speakers of the PSP.

This program is a very solid effort from Xsjado7 and one that musicians will enjoy. It makes this blogger wonder at the possibilities of this homebrew when paired up with a synthesizer (to simulate a bass guitar) and a Nintendo DS loaded with Jam Sessions.
