Homebrew developer xart has announced on the QJ.NET PSP Development forums that slimChoice is now at version 1.0.4. For the uninitiated, slimChoice is an eLoader menu that combines a hot look with some equally hot functions.
Those who have already had experience using eMenu should have no problem with using slimChoice since it uses the same control scheme. Here's a list of what's been added since version 1.0:
v1.0.3.1
v1.0.3
v1.0.2 very short life
v1.0.1 & v1.0.11

Homebrew developer Xart has come out with Melody v1.0.4. For those of you unfamiliar with this application, it is an MP3 player derived from the embedded MP3 player in Choice Beta 1.5. This latest version fixes a few of the more troublesome bugs that were found in its previous release. The Playlist and MyRating which was not working due to the update on the ID3 parser has now been fixed, meaning that this program should now be working without a hitch. If you've been using an older release, it is advisable that you upgrade to this version. If you do decide to try this homebrew out, be sure to go over the readme document included in the zip file before doing anything to avoid any problems. Download: Melody v1.0.4 |

If you want an MP3 player that is as sexy as your PSP, then xart's Melody v0.9 is just up your alley. This stand-alone player from Choice Beta 1.5 looks really pretty with its transparent menus and easy to use interface. This program's still in its early stages and further improvements are on the way. The developer gave word that Melody v1.0 will have shuffle and repeat playback, a feature this release lacks. So far the program supports ID3v3 PNG Cover Art while support for ID3v2 and ID3v4 will be added eventually. If you're going to be adding in the cover art, take note that it has to be in a none interlaced PNG format, with a maximum size of 144x144. If you insist on adding a picture larger than this, it will be reduced to 144x144. Also note that there will be a slight slowdown while scrolling down the menu due to the loading of the larger picture. All in all, this is a solid effort from the developer and one that makes listening to MP3s on the PSP a tad more enjoyable. So download the application and try it out, you might be pleasantly surprised. Download: Melody v0.9 Visit: QJ.net PSP development forums |

We're sure you've been waiting for homebrew developer xart's update on Choice, and today, you're in luck. Xart has just released Choice Beta 1.1 and easyChoice version 1.5. Choice is a GUI (graphical user interface) for custom firmware and is recommended for use on 3.51 M33. For this release, we see several features like portals for homebrew, LuaPlayer, music, background photo, USB Connection, and UMD Dump. EasyChoice on the other hand, sports icons for homebrew, LuaPlayer, background photo, and LightMP3 (by another homebrew coder, Sakya). Both applications look sweet, though Choice has smoother graphics (for this writer, at least). As you may have noticed, Choice is a beefier version of easyChoice and the good developer decided to create the projects separately for easier development and debugging. Basically, those who don't like the extras in Choice can opt to install the lighter version. Cool, eh? Another difference by the way, is that easyChoice doesn't support themes. At any rate, try the apps out and see if you like it. Installation is pretty easy, just dump the files on your GAME folder and you're all set. Enjoy! We don't know if you still remember the homebrew application Choice from last year. It was created by Xart and is a graphical user interface (GUI) for Fanjita's and Ditlew's groundbreaking eLoader at that time. Well, Xart is back and so is his pet project that has been made compatible with the custom OE firmware. If you're not well familiar with this kind of stuff, take note that Choice has the following features: launch homebrew, organize homebrew, calculator, USB Connection, Duo Manager, and Lua launch. The program was developed in Xcode and was originally tested on Mac OS X. Anyway, Xart mentioned that this is not yet the full release as he plans to add more features in the coming days. Despite that, we have to say that Choice is already looking good. Just take a look at its development history:
