PRX Launcher Fix for 3.40 OE - Image 1

vodkkaa has released a new application based off theketchupman's PRX Launcher v0.4. Called PRX Launcher Fix for 3.40 OE, the fix will let you to launch any homebrew using PRX Launcher v0.4 on your PSPs.

Here's the full list of features for the homebrew application:
  • This eboot allows you to launch any homebrew using prx launcher v0.4 by theketchupman
  • PRX launcher looks for a specified homebrew to launch. However, some homebrew, such as emulators and apps that access flash, do not launch when using this. What this does is allow you to specify this EBOOT to prx launcher, which then launches your EBOOT.
The full list of instructions for installing and using the handy fix can be found on the included readme file. Feel free to check it out and see how it integrates with your PRX Launcher. Enjoy!

Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1Remember the Boot Manager homebrew application vodkkaa made a few days ago? The developer's dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to let the community know that the application has been updated to version 0.2. As a recap for what Boot Manager does, this application will allow PSP owners to launch various recovery modes for their PSPs (custom firmware 3.40 OE, to be specific):
  • Menu to launch predefined homebrew
  • launch OE recovery
  • Launch IE recovery
  • Launch IE special recovery
  • flash vsh.prx
  • autoboot program
This latest version appears to have fixed several minor bugs detected since the application's first release, although vodkkaa mentioned plans for future (possible) updates:
  • on startup each direction of Dpad to autoboot a different homebrew. (UP users cant use L as autoboot)
  • WLAN up to bypass and launch OE recovery
  • option to boot 5 homebrew from the menu
Installation and usage instructions, and other additional details are available in the file readme and vodkkaa's thread over at the QJ.Net Forums. Guys interested in Boot Manager's source code are also directed to the forums - the author is open to requests.

3.30 OE at Midnight? - Image 1

Right now, we're calling this little piece of info from vodkkaa and P8ntballinfrk a rumor, but you know we wish it was true. According to the site they tipped us off to, the OE version of the 3.30 firmware might very well be coming at midnight.

PSP-Generation writes that with the assistance of Mathieulh, Dark_Alex was able to finish coding the 3.30 OE firmware. All that needs be done is to add an automatic installer, and we should have it online very soon.

Of course, we're not sure which "midnight" PSP-Gen is referring to, since the time zones will evidently mess this up. Still, it's definitely big news, and we'll keep you posted on the latest happenings on it here and keep this updated with the latest information on the fabled 3.30 OE firmware. Till then, be patient.

UPDATE:

Well, here's some confirmation of the PSP running 3.30 OE Firmware. PSP Gen now has a video up showing the update process in action. The only thing of note in the vid, for those skeptics, is the fact that a cut occurs in the middle of the video.

Using translation services, we were able to get this explanation from the people at PSP Gen:

You will undoubtedly notice that there is a cut in the middle of video. As the installer is not made yet, it was thus necessary to intervene on the level of the flash manually. This operation not being interesting, since provisional, thus was voluntarily cut to the assembly.

USBon Plugin for PSP - Image 1In your opinion, what PlayStation Portable (PSP) plugin is the most useful? Whatever your answer is, we're pretty certain that will be debatable depending on our needs. To each his own, or so they say. But to homebrew coder vodkkaa, it's the one that concerns the handheld's USB function.

Haven't heard of such plugin? Well, there isn't exactly one that's why the coder created the USBon Plugin. The name of the application is pretty much self-explanatory. With this plugin, you will never have to go to Settings then activate the USB mass storage function as you can do that  by giving the right shoulder button a quick press. Some other features of this include:
  • For 3.03 OE and 3.10 OE
  • Quick toggle of USB Mass Storage
  • USB connection anywhere in the XMB
  • 4th brightness for 3.03 OE users
In the event that you have another plugin installed to your flash0 (and we believe you do), take note that you will need to add them to the "pspbtcnf.txt" before flashing. Speaking of which, you already know the drill: don't tinker with these things if you don't know what you're doing.

Flashing any kind of file to your PSP runs the risk of bricking. Read the accompanying Readme file for more details and instructions.
