Phaze Portal v1.5 from vashts121 - Image 1

Homebrew developer vashts121 dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums the other day and announced a new build for his PlayStation Portable application Phaze Portal. This new build is essentially the same as the previous one, version 1.5, but with some very important fixes.

According to the developer, there are two new themes available now for users: pink and black. More importantly, the links were fixed as several of the hosts were changed. Those who have been using Phaze prior to this might be aware that the previous build ran out bandwidth.

Phaze v1.5 - Image 1

Vashts121 has updated his Phaze Portal application to version 1.5. As he calls it, Phaze Portal v1.5 is a vast improvement over the previous version, with more games, more apps, and a whole lot more functionality.

Here are the new features for Phaze Portal v1.5:
  • Downloads now has music, demos, wallpaper, videos and images
  • Forum added
  • News on homepage and is also a link
  • More games
  • More apps, pixel fixer added
  • Forum added
  • Search added (Yahoo, Google, Wikipedia etc.)
  • File browser under Search
  • Plethora of links
  • Two new themes (in About)
According to vashts121, he'll also be adding patches in the near future, which will add new themes and content in the near future, so watch out for that. Best of all, the patches simply ask that you overwrite your previous files to have them implemented, which is a simple way of getting them to all work.

In any case, give the app a try, and see if it agrees with you. Enjoy!

PSP-PDA - Image 1

Here's some more homebrew goodness from zx-81, who has just released a new version of PSP-PDA, Rob_psp's PDA applications for the Sony PSP handheld system. This bumps PSP-PDA up to version 1.3.1.

Okay, first of all, Rob_psp's PSP-PDA homebrew set is a collection of PDA programs that have been coded to run on the PSP. It includes notepad, a music player, an image viewer, an address book, a calendar, a calculator, and a clock. As for what zx-81 has added to PSP-PDA, here's a list of what's new:
IR keyboard support for PSP-PDA was tested using a Targus Universal IR wireless keyboard. For installation and usage instructions, please read the README.txt file included in the download. PSP-PDA is being distributed under a GNU license, so if you want to tinker around with it, feel free to download the source code below.

Phaze Portal - Image 1

vashts121 recently dropped by our forums to announce the release of his PSP Internet Portal, Phaze Portal. Phaze Portal allows users to run a host of applications, as well as play games and chat on instant messenger services.

Here's the full list of features:
  • Play Flash games
  • Run useful applications
  • Download content onto your PSP
  • Chat on instant messengers
  • View other useful and time-killing sites
  • Chat with other Phaze users
vashts121 notes that this is still the first build, so if you like what you see now, you can expect bigger and better things in the future. Give it a try. We recommend trying the Flash version of Tetris though. Enjoy!
