Bad luck has struck owners of Sony's PlayStation 3 console. Instead of fixing the known issues with it, people have noticed that the Firmware 2.20 update is causing problems when streaming mpeg-4 video files which sometimes render files unplayable. Find out the details after the jump! |

TVersity announced today that they are offering on the fly FLV conversion to Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii owners. This will allow gamers who have either of the two aforementioned consoles to effortlessly stream or download their home and Internet content and watch it on their TV. "With TVersity they can, for the first time, play video files in formats not natively supported by the PS3/Wii, play Internet TV channels of their choice, and access video podcasts and RSS feeds," said Ronen Mizrahi, President of TVersity Inc. "This is what TVersity is all about, personalization of multimedia content and ubiquitous access." It's worth noting though that Wii support is still experimental. It's not in the press release, but the TVersity website says that due to their inability to get a Wii, support for this unit was tested via the desktop version of the Opera browser. The latest version of TVersity is available for free download at tversity.com or you can click here to get it from our DL site. |

QJ reader Ryvis informs us that the latest update to the TVersity Media Server is now available at the official site. Since it's been several months since we last posted about this, here's a little refresher: TVersity features on the fly transcoding to WMV for the Xbox 360, and allows for management of various media files. It can be used to create a personalized sequence of channels. It also serves the said media to networked devices in your home. Version 0.9.10.1 was released on April 19, 2007, and as of this writing, folks from the official site, say that release notes for the new version are "coming soon." However, we do know that, in this version, video support for the PlayStation 3, the Wii, the Nokia N800, and video for the Sony PSP is featured. Oh, and for you Wii owners out there eager to try this out, please be aware that the developers note that due to their inability to get a Nintendo Wii, support for the Wii is experimental and was only tested via a desktop version of the Opera browser. For more information on the application, feel free to head to the official site via our "read" link below. If in case the download link that they've got isn't working that well, we have one for you folks to use below. Enjoy folks! Download: TVersity 0.9.10.1 |

TVersity pioneered delivering Internet and home media to televisions, mobile devices, and the Xbox 360. The team's TVersity Media Center allows the Xbox 360 to access audio files in formats not natively supported by the Xbox 360 (like Vorbis and FLAC), play Internet radio stations, and access podcasts and photo feeds from photo sharing sites (like Flickr). All those can be done with the Xbox 360 via TVersity Media Server without a Media Center PC. Now the the TVersity team has released a preview version of their patch for the on-the-fly transcoding feature of WMV files for the Xbox 360 console. Directions for installing the patch:

TVersity Media Server is a free application that lets you manage your
internet and home media by creating a personalized lineup of channels
or Personal Entertainment Guide (PEG). It then serves this media to
your device, overcoming limitations by doing all the necessary
conversions for your media to be available anytime and anywhere for you
on any device. So what it's saying is it that all you need to do is
enjoy your media while it does all the work.
It can support almost any type of media as well as streaming protocol coming from your home network or the Internet, such as live and on demand Internet streams. This means that you can have access to Internet TV and radio, Podcasts, photo blogs and more. You're all set if your device supports UPnP AV/DLNA standard (TVs, DVDs, Stereo Receivers,Digital Media Adapaters/Receivers, Mobile Phones, etc.) or has a web browser like XHTML-MP or WAP 2.0 and media streaming capabilities (Mobile Phones, PDAs, the Sony PSP) or something that has an RSS reader and media streaming or downloading capabilities (Sony PSP, iTunes/iPod). If you already have your gear of your choice (Mine is a Sony PSP, so from this point on the article will focus on how to run the application on a PSP), just crosscheck if you meet the minimum requirements to make TVersity run on it. Minimum System Requirements:
